  Ubuntu on pine 64+
Posted by: Lou Reed - 05-20-2016, 07:54 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PINE A64(+) - Replies (5)

Is Ubuntu available for the pine 64+ the two GB version of Pine 64?

I know that for a while one had to build it.
Also, does wi-fi come standard on the Pine 64+ 2GB version?

I do not see where to buy it separately on the Pine 64 website.

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Respectfully,

Lou Reed

I've been working on a "glass cockpit" for aircraft.
I have the Pine64+ 2GB, and I'm using Ubuntu.
I made a few circuit boards to stack on the Pi connector: a triple-output (12V, 5V, 3.3V) power supply, a GPS/Pressure/9DOF board, and a 6-input thermocouple board.
(If you want to make your own PCBs, PCBway is unbelievably cheap, and my boards all worked...no problem).

On a 1024x600 LCD, I will provide:
- Attitude indicator (from accelerometer)
- Directional Gyro/Compass (from magnetometer and accelerometer)
- True Airspeed (from differential pressure sensor)
- Turn Coordinator (from accelerometer/gyro)
- Altitude (from GPS...though I might add another pressure sensor for added accuracy/backup)
- Vertical speed (from GPS, same comment on pressure sensor)
- Cylinder head temperature (up to 6 cylinders, from thermocouples)
- Exhaust gas temperature (up to 6 cylinders, from thermocouples)
- Moving Map GPS Navigation
- I still need to make another board to handle inputs for engine RPM, fuel level, oil pressure/temp

The GPS module is using Serial Port 1.
The 9DOF sensor board and differential pressure are using I2C (TWI1).
Temperature sensors are using SPI, and I have a bunch of GPIO and decoders to address individual sensors.

So far, I've tested out the I2C and serial port to confirm they're working.
Still waiting for SPI support.
I also have the attitude indicator designed and rendering (via SDL) based on readings from the accelerometer.
It's been fun so far...
Next, I'll do the compass.
After that, I'll start into rendering the moving map GPS navigation.

Thanks to all on the forums for your support!

  Can't get internet connection
Posted by: galbez - 05-20-2016, 04:47 AM - Forum: Getting Started - Replies (4)

hey,
just got my 512MB Pine64 with the native wifi module.
installed debian as described on the newbies guide, the boot was successful.
then connected it to my TV - just 1ft from the Wifi router, and of course managed to connect to my home WIFI network, with 75% reception.
all worked fine so far.
then started up iceweasel, but it didn't even manage to load Google - "server not found".

are there any other internet/wifi configurations I need to be aware of? as I said its within the range of the network and authenticated to it.
also tried to connect with the Ethernet cable but it didnt recognize the network. well at least not automatically...

what should i do?

thank you in advance.

  Android Ethernet Problem
Posted by: a5467021 - 05-20-2016, 03:52 AM - Forum: Android on Pine A64(+) - Replies (11)

Hello everyone, I have some difficulty using Android.
Every time I open my browser(Chorme), it says that I don't connect the Internet.
Then I installed "Android Terminal Emulator" to check whether the ethernet is working well.
But every time on boot, "ifconfig eth0" tells me that it couldn't assign ...
When I use su command to assign a specific IP address to it, it works.
But, what I can do then is only being able to ping through my router, I still can't connect the Internet.
I've also tried on ather OSs like Remix and Ubuntu, but both of them CAN connect the Internet.
Maybe is there anything wrong with the Android system or are there any settings I forget to set?

Can I use Raspberry Pi3 Power supply for Pine?
Posted by: nizam27391 - 05-19-2016, 09:21 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PINE A64(+) - Replies (7)

Hi all,

I'm about to receive my Pine64 by this week/next week. I didnt bought the power supply by Pine64 during pledge.

But I currently have a raspberry pi 3 running and thinking I could use Pine to replace my current rasp pi.
So can I use raspberry pi 3 power supply to power up Pine64?
The power suppl y is 2.5A. And as I know Pine need 2.0A power supply.
Will it cause trouble to Pine like overload or something?

Hope you can help me.
Thanks in advance .  Big Grin

Thank you,

  Power off/shutdown android
Posted by: Informatica - 05-19-2016, 01:16 PM - Forum: Android on Pine A64(+) - Replies (12)

Hi,
Today I tried Android on my Pine. I think it is the best solution now but... how can I shutdown the system?

I received the power button and I have inserted it in the "power" location but when I push it nothing happens.

Are there instruction for installing that button? Or, how power off android without it?

thank in advance

Android possible on 512 MB Ram ?
Posted by: ShinjiIkari - 05-19-2016, 12:32 PM - Forum: Android on Pine A64(+) - Replies (8)

Hi folks,

i received my Pine64 board. Works well, but i am no really friend of Linux after all.
I know it will be laggy like hell, but shouldnt it be possible to run Android on a 512mb Pine ?
I mean my Smartphone has only 512 MB Run and runs it too.
I installed the rom on a Sandisk Class 10 32 gig card and all i got is a pixel square at the start (same card runs fine with debian).

On the pine wiki and product page is stated that they recommen a 1gig RAM for Android, but not that it is impossible to run it on 512 MB machines.
Anywone got it runing on the "small" Pine ? Maybe i just did some wrong stuff.
Or is ist impossible. I used the image writer and the image to write it to my card, you can not do much wrong with that, right ? Card should be fast enough, cause it runs the Linux fine.

Thanks for your help guys.
