Do you have a serial adapter to look at the console? Any USB-serial dongle with 3.3V levels will do...

Edit: I should read all of the post..., afaik all MAC are generated based on the unique device ID on the newer images since the preprogramming of the MACs on the sticker only works for the factory Android images. You can set the MAC manually  via uEnv.txt though...
