Removing Back to PineTab
#1
Does the back of the PineTab just pop off like the back of the PinePhone ? I figured it best to ask before I try it as I don't see any noticible notch to pop off like the PinePhone has. I tried searching DuckDuckGo for breakdown guides but found none. I don't plan on any upgrades yet but want to add an M.2 SSD down the road so it will be good to figure out.

You can remove it by inserting a fingernail (or plastic pick) at the corners, but it's much stiffer than the pinephone cover, and seems to be providing a lot of structural support to the unit. Replacing it is also quite tricky, especially around the magnet and pogo pin area, I had some internal issues to fix so took mine apart - the second time I broke the digitizer, so you probably want to avoid that.

Thanks for that. I was able to get it off and back on. I agree it was a pain to put back on.

The PineTab back cover by design not intent to pop off.

might that not be an issue when the modem and nvme expansions become available?

I should rephrase my wording, the PineTab back cover by design not intent for frequent pop off. However, it is safe to pop off pinetab back cover to install expansion board and please watch out on the docking area which is a bit fragile due to thin plastic.
