Linux 5.7 on Pinebook Pro
#1
My rig running Arch has recieved an update for Linux 5.7. While reading online about Linux 5.7, I noticed that a lot of focus was on ARM devices and Pine products. If that is the case, how soon should I expect the update for Manjaro ARM on the PBP and will it solve some issues e.g. suspend.

I'm not an expert but I hear 5.7 will make a big difference for Manjaro ARM. I think Manjaro (non arm) is also now on 5.7. Manjaro ARM will likely update soon after Arch ARM moves to 5.7. I think people were suggesting it would be a couple of weeks?

Linux 5.7 is already in Manjaro ARM unstable so it will be coming up stable branch soon.

There is nothing major as this things were already part of our 5.6 kernel.

I am looking forward to video hw acc.
Manjaro ARM Team.
Devices: Pinebook Pro & PinePhone.

Thanks for clearing that up Spikerguy. Maybe I'm confusing the level of impact it'll have on other ARM devices?

I seem to have lost the ability to see the battery status with the Manjaro ARM update to 5.7. I also lost 5 GHz WiFi with a prior update (I understand that's due to a buggy firmware package)

Wasn't the 5.7 update still in unstable or testing? There is another package for PBP custom Linux kernel. Maybe try that.

for battery status what does this output?:
upower -i /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_cw2015_battery

Strange, that's showing correct information, but I lost the battery icon in KDE.

Same issue for me. The icon comes back if forced to in system tray options but it says theres no batteries available. When I then bring up the expanded energy consumption stats screen, all the relevant info is there and correct.

My battery status will sometimes not show up if I boot on 5.7 either. I thought maybe it was only when I had the charger connected at first, but now it also does it on battery only too.  Power and battery info still show up in the login screen, and also in energy info center. If I add another battery widget sometimes it works while the original one doesn't. Sometimes they both work, and sometimes they both don't work. Seems random when I boot up. I think it's just a bug in widgets since energy in the Info Center always works.
