Kernel 5.17 will improve VP9 support?

Will we get proper VP9 hardware acceleration with kernel 5.17?
Will this mean that we can say goodbye to h264ify?

no. it means the kernel supports decode. browsers depend on their various hwaccel systems (firefox uses vaapi), so this translation layer must exist for firefox to take advantage of the feature.

kodi has supported these features for years via GBM.
