Powerful Pinetime with Linux?

I miss a PineTime which is more powerful and has a Linux operating system. Shouldn t this be feasable? There are already such watches available. The Ticwatch Pro for instance has 1 GB of Ram:

and runs android wear. Linux can run on Android wear:

but what is missing is an easy to use user interface. Make a real Linux Pinetime which is more powerful. All components are available.

What would you want to do with this watch?

As a small IO system for your phone the Pinetime seems just right.

If you want a powerful wrist computer, I think a wrist strap option for the Pinephone would be a better idea. (For the record: I would definitely want one)

Maybe I'm lacking imagination here, but I don't see much use in a powerful watch sized computer.

To be powerful is not so important, but it would be easier to use. When you search on the web, there are people expecting from the PineTime to be a Linux Smartwatch. I m interested in a open source bike computer or bike sportswatch, since Garmins system is too limited for my purpose:

I currently have an Android system on two smartphones. But running the software on a watch would eventually be more stable.

Garmin has the option to create custom workouts on some watches. But these custom workouts are not displayed in Garmin Connect. Also it is not possible to access sensor raw data in an easy way.

The Garmin watches are very stable, but too little open for my purpose. The Pinephone is probably the easiest way to start such a project. But a Linux watch which is as close as possible to the Pinephone would be desirable.

It is much too resource hungry for the Pinetime I believe.

Thanks. I looked at AsteroidOS. But is the project alive? There is not even a forum. Maybe the Pinetime is sufficient for my purpose. I m unhappy with Garmin watches. They are market leaders in the segment of sports watches, and many are happy with those. But they store their sensor data in the .fit file system which need a data scientist to get a clear data structure out of it. And for a real-time stream you need either an Azure Cloud abo or Matlab.

Daniel Thompson, PineTime developer stated on his youtube channel, that he had no plans to use external BLE sensor with PineTime, but connecting PineTime to BLE peripherals is certainly possible... though it would be a lot of work.

On a Linux platform, it is easier, either on the Pinephone or for instance on an Android watch running Linux.

Every time I look at the AsteroidOS web site something has changed so it seems to be alive.  If you go to https://asteroidos.org/community/ and look at the box marked Others it says you can join the community on IRC, Twitter or Github.

I ve looked at the options to install Linux on Android for instance for the Tickwatch pro with 1 GB RAM. The Tickwatch is powerful, but how to build a watch interface on Linux?

I m a strong advocate for a PineTime with Linux. The PineTime has an excellent user interface. Can it be ported to a Linux Pinetime watch?

AsteroidOS is a full Linux distribution, I did not realize this and underestimated AsteroidOS:

I had somewhere in my mind the information, that the PineTime is a Linux watch, which is a wrong information. Now I know from where it came.

The argument that a Linux smartwatch has to expensive is not true. Here I found the information that the KingWear KW88 which can be bought for about 80 USD on Aliexpress can run Linux AsteroidOS, with the issue that the touch screen needs two fingers to be responsive:
