Can't find Wifi network

Perhaps the metal case of the PBP is blocking the rf signal. ?  
  Wonder if   it would make any difference if you turned the screen in the direction facing the router ?

No that is not it, find the network when using Manjaro

Lets me know lo doesn't support scanning (of course), but does not find anything.

From your dmesg excerpt,  it looks like you are missing some firmware that enables DP over type C ,  and the wired ethernet connection,  but that you have the proper  bcrmfmac driver for wireless.  I also get the regulatory.db message,  but my wireless is working fine. ( I am in the US)  .  

Just to be sure I understand:  you can see other networks,  just not yours?   
I assume your network is not hidden,  or hasn't become hidden?
Nothing has changed on your router--that is,  you can still see your network with Manjaro?  (Hopefully,  you have kept an sd card with a working distribution on it).  

Have you tried connecting with nmtui?  (You would need to have the network-manager package installed to use it).  That would at least give you the ability to specify your network name and the security you use to log in.   You could check the router logs to see if it had seen the pbp.

Your could also try looking at
 journalctl -u NetworkManager

Neighboring houses (removed MAC and SSID for privacy).
I know this does not make sense. Where I'm sitting at this moment I had full reception while Manjaro was installed, was using the Wifi to update/install and play around with Manjaro. Got frustrated with Manjaro, reverted back to debian with CInnamon and now we're here.

DP as in displayport over USB C ? Not sure what effect it would have, but I can get video out over USBC, although are locked to the PBP resolution.

Correct, I see neatby networks, but not my own. My own is working properly, using it for the mobile and for the tv and it was working with Manjaro.
Nothing has changed on the router since.
I had Manjaro installed on the eMMC, and now have debian on it, so no unfortunately not.
I cheked the router log but can see nothing there about the PBP. 


nmtui only shows my wired and VPN connection.

So, I just booted a fresh install to USB of MrFixit's debian for PBP for the heck of it,
aaaand my network shows up, connecting to it, no problem and all works fine.

So, apparently it works both for MrFixits release and Manjaro but not regular debian (which I need in order to get FDE).

Don't understand what is to be fixed. If it was a connection issue I could understand there is some kind of issue, but that the network isn't even showing up. I have no idea. This just seems weird. MrFixit is debian, and it works perfectly, so why not on regular debian?

"nmcli connect wifi <BSSID> -a" AND the reason that did not work, it is wrong
try
nmcli dev wifi con (SSID) password (password),,,, it will accept dev=device, con=connect
or nmcli dev wifi status
or many of the other appropiate commands

None of those work, just returns errors.

Never mind, I give up. PBP clearly doesn't work properly with regular debian. I'll just stick to the ethernet dongle.

we don't know your WAP so you need to figure that part out yourself.
