I'd recommend sha256, md5 is known to be broken.

WinDiskImager supports MD5-hash directly in its dialogue, so MD5 seems to be the better choice.

Tried to upload a 900mb file to the Pine (32gb Card installed) but it tells me, that i don´t have enough free space - only 300mb free space?!

Did you expand your root_fs? Even using a 128GB Card directly after decompressing the image only shows a 4GB Partition! Can you verify the free space on the SMB-server folder on the pine itself?
Still a linux newbie with several EEE-PCs, PI's, LattePanda and some Desktops/Laptops running Win10. Now also proudly using Pine64+ 2GB and gigabit LAN

Wrapped up my MicroSD card testing, got my solar charger and battery ready, and thanks to these images I'm ready to give my solar-powered desktop quasi-replacement a first shot tonight. Thanks for clearing the 2 GB hurdle so quickly!

Thanks for the work. Have been successfully using the LXDE image for the past 5 days without issue. Looking forward to GPU drivers eventually.

No i didnt, how do i do that? I tried to follow the instructions here but i have no linux to create a ext4 partition. I have an MacBook with SSH access to the Pine.

With my images and longsleep's images (which I base my work on to allow for consistency) there are scripts to do it included.

first I would run the following

pine64_update_uboot.sh

then

pine64_update_kernel.sh

then

resize_rootfs.sh

followed by a reboot Wink

the first 2 scripts updates u-boot (where the kernel is loaded) and updates the kernel modules (libraries/etc)

I'll point to my web site entry that describes how I got my Pine64+, 2GB, now called "abel",  up and running...

http://linuxdatabases.info/info/abel.html

I didn't use anyone's scripts; I pulled the root filesystems from the torrents here (specifically, the LXDE one), added to bootloader per umiddelb, and turned that into an initial image for my SD card.

I was somewhat surprised that it worked the first time, gotta pass kudos on that!!!

I just installed LXDE Desktop image. Everything seems to work fine except the WiFi. It can't find any networks. Am I doing something wrong? I'm also new to Linux.

Thanks

run the following commands

sudo -i

followed by
pine64_update_uboot.sh
followed by
pine64_update_kernel.sh

and if you haven't expanded your rootfs
resize_rootfs.sh

reboot

I can't run the uboot or the kernel command without internet access. It says: curl: (6) could not resolve host: www.stdin.xyz
