Pinebook Pro/NVMe prep ?

Concerning the NVMe drive :
  Would using a NVMe to usb adapter be of any assistance to formatting and installing the software to it ?
   If you use a separate computer to download software,  or if you needed to wipe it and reload it, etc...  ?
   I am still waiting for the updated parts to arrive,  and the new drive is just sitting here waiting......

I plan on buying two different SSD's with the same capacity (256GB), and an external enclosure.  That way I can test two different drives, and have a drive for backups.  I haven't ordered them yet, because I'm still waiting for the extra parts for the adapter to ship.  Since the PBP is my only Linux machine, I plan on doing any formatting and installing with it.

With the external enclosure, you can likely clone a second drive if you want to. (?)
I was looking at an 'adapter' but those are open, while the enclosure is only a few buck$ more.
I have a pile of Linux laptops, I bought them and upgraded them with the intention of reselling them, eventually.
I have one with XP only so I can update its bios....

My PBPro is the first one built for Linux.

* I know Luke was a bit dubious of using the SPI, but it would sure simplify things if we could just put the boot info on it, then go directly to the NVMe drive... (?)
Especially since that is the first device in the default boot order.
