Nope, you can obviously make it run super hot under artifical load, in which case it will throttle ... but not by much. Under regular use I doubt you'll ever see the PB Pro throttle.

Then what is the point in those massive heatsinks for rockpro64 I see in store.pine64? (since it is the same rk3399)

There is a massive heatsink for the SOC on the Pinebook Pro too - the entire bottom of the case.

RK3399Pro 6GB is 4GB (CPU site) + 2GB (AI site). The maximum memory space still 4GB. The 6GB is just a number add and sum games by some marketing companies.
Great June News post Luke,

++ on the ISO keyboard, hope you find the quality you’re looking for. Won’t mind spend for a little extra for a quality keyboard.

Looking at the pre-production photo of the inside of Pinebook Pro, there are several threaded pillars. Will these be retained in the production units? They’ll make perfect mountings for DIY expansions! Might even spur an aftermarket upgrade movement Wink

Cheers!
@Luke You mention webgl/3d & video accel in the June news. Is it all open source or some blobs are involved? Or mby some other hardware parts require blobs?
Great update! There is lots to be excited about Big Grin

There are two missing links atm in the PineBook Pro section of the post:
Quote:More info on the respective builds can be found here and here.
@zl1tet yes those threaded pillars you see will be there in production version. One set is for the optional m.2. NVMe SSD adapter. The other can be used for whatever you wish to hack in. The only consideration you need to have is height of whater you want to hack into it. Now that I think about it, perhaps we should make the physical thickness more of a 'thing' in future posts / information.

@enip blobs, 32bit. Not sure what the status of Panfrost is right now, but probably not usable in a desktop environment - but I'm sure Manjaro will include it in their release (and likely others will too).

@PakoSt fixed with links to @Mrfixit2001 and @ayufan releases on git.

Luke any news on a new board for pinebook 1?

As I've already said, there will be an upgrade path for the regular Pinebook users. I explained some of the obsticles that need to be overcome first earlier in this thread. One thing at a time - the focus is on the PB Pro first, then we'll look into the upgrade path.

@Luke I've just noticed: why the specs say

Quote:3.5″ Barrel Power (5V 3A) Port

Shouldn't it be 3.5 mm?

inches here:
