For those of us getting on in years and small displays harder to read, is the pseudo analog display only an option that can be switched to a simple large font digital time and date?

Development for the PineTime is currently happening by multiple people, independent of Pine64. Most likely some will have a digital display instead of an analog display. Also, it's quite likely at least one will allow custom watchfaces to be installed. It all depends on community members putting in the effort.
Note that the watchface in the picture is just the default factory firmware, it will likely be replaced with one of the community developed OSes for the actual production run.
