Pinebook Pro won't turn on when unplugged
#1
Hi,
I just received my pinebook pro. It was working fine until recently.
It will not turn on without the power adapter being plugged in, anymore. The green power indicator will light up but nothing shows up on the screen. When I try to power it on when plugged in, it boots just fine and I can unplug it and it works perfectly.
My battery is at 62%.

Thank You

I am using Manjaro if that has to do with anything. The first time the default Debian started correctly. Even after I had just installed Manjaro, everything was working perfectly. Could it have anything to do with the update?

My PBP did boot once without the power adapter but when I tried again, it did not work. It only works when it wants to.

Check the side RED LED close to the power jack, it should turn on when charging, and turn off when fully charge or no power from power jack.

You could try a COMPLETE power off
unplugged, type sync, enter, (up-arrow, enter) 3x (IOW sync x4)
press and hold pwr button, DON'T release, 20+ seconds
let us know

So far the problem hasn't occurred since yesterday after I charged the Pinebook Pro a little more. I am marking the issue as solved for now and will continue this thread if the problem occurs again. Thank you very much for trying to help. So far, I am very impressed with the PBP.

This is strange. It happened again and I tried a few times and when I unplugged my headphones, it booted. Could it be that the battery was not providing enough power for the headphones during startup?

I'm observing this same issue on a recently acquired PBP. Anyone else having the same issue?

Thus far I've twice observed that the device will not boot when left unplugged for a prolonged period but then I'm able to boot it when plugged in and also when cold booted after a recent charge. Strangely it doesn't seem related to the overall charge level of the battery which was always above 70% AFAICT.

Try a different operating system on micro SD card, and let us know what happens.

Good suggestion. Looks like this issue is specific to Armbian Focal. I hope for more light to be shed once my UART cable is delivered this week.
