Booting from an SD card without the boot order update

I got a Pinebook Pro the other day.
I was getting no sound, and although wifi worked, the USB C hub with ethernet wasn't working either. I was going to try Manjaro, as someone on the fourm suggested, but I had an idea first: I'll just upgrade from strech to buster! Interestingly, the packages were mostly armhf, although there were a few arm64.
After trying to upgrade, something went wrong. The next time that I rebooted, I got an unblinking cursor at the top left after seeing a Debian login console for a fraction of a second.
I made the Manjaro SD card, but it doesn't look like the SD card is read. I saw in another post that there is an update that I should have done before anything else.
I'm guessing that what I need to do is open it up and disable the eMMC, and hope that doing so will make it no longer participate in the boot order.
I'd like to know for sure what I'm doing before opening it; can someone point me to a document that says where the dip switches are and what they do?

Hi there,
After I've updated my system, I've got the trouble: when I use Fn + some functional key, X.org crashes.
Code: [Sat Jan 25 02:01:57 2020] broken atomic modeset userspace detected, disabling atomic
And some error with Panfrost:

It looks like a Debian issue, but maybe we can find a way to make Fn works.

Broken Spacebar on PBP ISO

I have a sad story. I was just flying across country with my ISO PBP, enjoying its terrific battery life from an unpowered economy seat.
A fellow passenger had a minor accident with their tray table, and red wine splashed across the top of my machine. I got quickly to work with paper napkins, but liquid seeped into the spaces under the key caps - especially the space bar.
I shut down, and continued drying, daring to restart after a couple hours. The damage? Tab, L-ALT and spacebar were non-functional. I played with travel on the keys, and after an evening in hotel, tap returned to functioning. L-ALT is iffy, and spacebar is still a dead response. On returning home, I fully discharged the machine and floated high-concentration isopropyl into the crevasses with a cotton swab, in the hopes that it wold work as a gunk-remover, and improvised contact cleaner. I put on a low-level heating pad for a couple hours, to dry out and recharged.
No luck. Spacebar travels normally, but sends no characters.
An odd thing. With a terminal open, bashing the space several times stops cursor blinking in Gnome-terminal, but no null character space updates on screen, or otherwise registers. After the cursor "freezes", It takes a couple of presses of ENTER to make this responsive, and return a new prompt. Then I get several, like they were piled up in a buffer and all released at once.
Anyway, very frustrating. I just had Daniel's excellent Debian installer imaged as I like, with a hybrid arm64/armhf, the zram service working, and Gnome3 customized to my extensions and preferences. On the up side, I have 20+ tabs synced in Firefox, and she's dead steady, other than some screen tearing on repaint of scrolled pages.
I'm open to any suggestions here. I wish there were simple spare-parts ordering of new ISO KB units on the Pine Store. I'd hate to retire this one to USB/Bluetooth KB only - tho I have an ANSI unit on which I can swap my eMMC.
Thanks all, and BE CAREFUL! These KB are not sealed membranes, it seems.

Hi Everyone,
I'm planning on getting a PBP, but to be honest the amount of import tax I saw in another thread made me a bit wary. Is there any way to use another shipping (if I'm not mistaken the PinePhone does not ship with DHL?) or is it possible to buy it in person maybe, at least to avoid the extra charge from DHL? I'd much rather pop out to Poland if possible

Just wanted to make sure the community was up to date on where Manjaro is right now with ARM devices, but more specifically the PinePhone.
https://forum.manjaro.org/t/manjaro-arm-...tab/120761
Thank you to the developers and I can't wait until we get out of alpha state!
Changes

- Wifi is now able to connect and be used
- Mobile broadband connections are now working (might need a reboot to work right)
- Phone application now works
- Replaced Konsole with QMLKonsole for a more mobile friendly terminal

Hi All, I've been trying to run electrum wallet from python source on the Manjaro image. Everything fails looking for pyQt5.
This is installed via pacman so not sure why It's not working...
Everything I find online seems to be a dead end so wondered if anyone had any ideas how to get it working?

vcgencmd clone and remote monitoring

I found https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?...t=vcgencmd but I've not found a vcgencmd for any rock SBCs.
I use https://github.com/eidottermihi/rpicheck which is a cool (and free/opensource) app for Android for remote (well, local to LAN) monitoring and rebooting Raspberry Pi devices. You can use it with any Linux (like - it relies on some Linux tools, not sure it would work on BSD or others due to reliance on some userspace tools).
RasPi Check relies on a few calls to vcgencmd, so to avoid errors and get some useful output (like CPU temp) I faked out an incomplete version. I posted it https://github.com/eidottermihi/rpicheck...-577997989
Questions:
Where should I post this? The forum here appear to be for each rock board (e.g. I suspect this will work on Pro boards as well as the old pine64 board). I'm not clear this appropriate for the general forum.
What are other people using for checking (and occasionally running "stuff") on their boards?
Thanks to everyone who posted to the wiki - that was how I found a bunch of pre-made images :-)

Netflix on default Chromium/Debian

Hi all!
I'm rusty on my linux and I'm trying to watch netflix on it for the first time.
For some reason I thought that in the default distribution provided with PBP the Chromium browser already included support for Netflix. I can't watch it in Chromium nor Firefox. Is there additional setup necessary to get it going? I see that widevine is part of the updates that I run every once in a while so I'm even more confused by it not working.
If anyone could point me to how to get it running on the original distribution, would be appreciated.
Thanks!
