USB3 to SATA cable - Firmware
Posted by: Eule - 03-03-2020, 01:31 PM - Forum: Rock64 Hardware and Accessories - No Replies

Hello everybody,

I have a USB3 to SATA cable with JMS578 and firmware version v0.4.0.9.
Unfortunately I am not able to use hdparm to detect drive state (= unknown). I also would like to control spindown.

I found several threads which recommends to update to firmware version v173.1.0.1 from here: odroid wiki

What do you think about it?

Best regards
Oliver

External display stopped working, "dpcd read failed: -22" in dmesg
Posted by: zackw - 03-03-2020, 10:58 AM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook Pro - Replies (3)

Yesterday, I was having no serious problems driving an external display from my PBP via a USB-C-to-HDMI adapter (J5create model JCA379).

This morning, I boot it up (it was shut off for the night), plug in the adapter, and the external display isn't recognized, and I see a flood of error messages in dmesg:

What might be wrong?  I reiterate that this did work yesterday, and there have been no software updates since.  I'm running the stock install and mrfixit_update.sh reports nothing to do.

  pinephone lost?
Posted by: janw - 03-03-2020, 10:06 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (16)

Because I've still not received my BH pinephone, I contacted the local post service of Belgium (bpost) and asked them if they know where my  pinephone is.

I've got an answer back (in Dutch). They say that my pinephone has never arrived at bpost (latest scan is "event Awaiting presentation to Customs") and I should contact the sender Sad

What should I do? Wait a little-bit longer? Or is it better to contact service at pine64.org?
Note that I don't want my money back, I just want to play with a pinephone Wink

Code:

Compareing my PP with PP on videos
Posted by: harvey186 - 03-03-2020, 02:43 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (2)

HI,

I have had a look on some videos about PinePhone. On the videos all OS are running very fast and smooth. I have tried them all on my PP, but none was working so smooth as on the videos.

Have someone an idea why ? Does I have bad hardware ? Is there a way to test the hardware / performance ??

  The future of the PinePhone
Posted by: Computer semi-expert - 03-02-2020, 09:10 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (3)

I read elsewhere on this site (the December casual update) that the Pinephone will be supplied for "at least 5 years." Which leads to the question: when Pinephone production ceases, will the Pinephone 2 be available? (I think everyone would want a Pinephone 2 to follow the Pinephone.)

Emmc to MicroSD adapter won't fit in recessed slot of pbp

Will not fit!  I don't want to link to an order page as it might cause confusion.  Attempted with Odroid Emmc to MicroSD adapter.  Will not fit since the slot is recessed in the pbp

Solution:

You'll want to an Emmc to USB adapter instead.  I've had no trouble with those. Cheers.  Smile

  I2C on Android?
Posted by: ameridroid - 03-02-2020, 03:41 PM - Forum: Android on RockPro64 - No Replies

Is it possible to use I2C on Android on the ROCKPro64?

If it is not possible at present, is it possible with some additional work?

We have a need for that and we are willing to hire a developer. Let us know if you are interested.
