  Microphone not working
Posted by: linuxfreund - 06-09-2020, 02:11 PM - Forum: Pinebook Pro Hardware and Accessories - No Replies

Hi there,
on my PinebookPro with Fedora32 the microphone is not working. If I try to record something (like Videochat, ...), only "peeeeep" is hearing.

How to fix that?

Thanks
Andreas

  Bigger batteries for the Pinephone?
Posted by: Peter Gamma - 06-09-2020, 02:08 PM - Forum: PinePhone Accessories - Replies (4)

I found here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaNzPooIWsU&t=76s the information, that the batteries of the Pinephone can be replaced by bigger ones. In the Pinephone Wiki there is the information, that the Pinophone batteries have the form-factor of Samsung J7 batteries. For some smartphones there are bigger batteries available, but for Samsung J7 batteries I could not find bigger ones. Are any bigger batteries available for the Pinephone?

Photo Shortcurcuit?

Hello,

so I bought a Pinebook Pro. It's nice, but I noticed that there is a very high whimpering (?).
You probably won't even here it if you are older than 25 (yep, that high).
Because it's a bit annoying I opened it up and noticed what you see on the picture.

Now, is this normal? And could that be the cause? If not, any ideas for the cause?

Kuhluh

OK, because attachments didn't work (or at least I didn't find it), here a link: https://cloud.khanich.de/s/NnaLAwYbRDnqXRY

  Flashing display on Community Ed
Posted by: dr.diesel - 06-09-2020, 01:09 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (3)

I just received my Community Ed Pinephone and instantly noticed the severe flashing of the display.  In searching I found the Quirks note here:

https://wiki.pine64.org/index.php?title=PinePhone_v1.2

Except that mine flashes on all brightness levels except for between 90-100%, automatic brightness off.  I've updated to the development Ubuntu Touch v44 just to see if any software fix was available, however no change.  The flashing diminishes as as the brightness level approaches ~90%, but is still visible on any setting below.

Is this truly the case with the known hardware issue or is mine just more severe?

  2020 Batch, Continued Keyboard Issues?
Posted by: chetchinglo - 06-09-2020, 08:57 AM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (5)

I have a 2020 build ANSI keyboard, and definitely have the super+arrow key issue.  Super key by itself works, but not in combination with other keys.  External keyboard works and the built in keyboard behaves the same across distros (Manjaro 20.04 and 20.06 KDE, debian)

I've scoured the forum (both here and Manjaro) and it seems to be agreed that if your Pinebook Pro was made in 2019 you should update the keyboard firmware, but I have a 2020 batch. Someone else asked a similar question to this as part of this Majaro i3 release, but with no conclusion.

https://forum.manjaro.org/t/pinebook-pin.../133927/18

It seemed that there is some risk is updating the firmware as some ended up with bricked trackpads or other boot issues after attempting.  I'm hesitant to try the update if I don't need to.  For the time being I remapped global window tiling shortcuts to shift + arrow.

Any thoughts on this? I'm just concerned that we maybe made a bad conclusion that this was resolved in 2019 where I'm fairly certain it's still out there.

Edit to add Wiki Reference: https://wiki.pine64.org/index.php/Pinebook_Pro#Trackpad

Pin missing, loose spring in phone, audio jack not working
Posted by: Jantje - 06-09-2020, 06:00 AM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (3)

Hello,

My audio jack is not working on my new UBports pinephone and I tried playing with the number 6 switch to no avail.
Then i noticed a set of pins, and one of the pins is missing, this explains why I saw a tiny spring in the back case of my phone when I opened it.
I assume this is an activation pin for the audio jack (it gets pressed inwards when the cover is put on the phone), it would explain why it is not working

If anyone knows what the pogo pins do and if it has any relation to the headphone jack i would be happy to know this.
Or if the headphone jack is working for others at all in general or if it is a work in progress.
If the pogo pins dont matter then there is no problem.
Maybe they have no relation to my problem.

Adding /usr/sbin to your $PATH is probasbly a good idea
Posted by: ab1jx - 06-09-2020, 05:55 AM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCK64 - Replies (1)

If it isn't already.  To check just type
echo $PATH
at a command prompt.  The last Ayufan Buster image I grabbed doesn't have it.  dpkg-reconfigure is there but not in your path so it doesn't work.  You could run it as /usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure except it also calls itself which won't work that way.

I just used it to set locales, it does a couple things as well like keyboard layouts, time zones.  To see what you're missing by not having it in your path do
ls /usr/sbin

Hi, I just published a modified version of Retropie 4.6 for RockPro64 on github at the following address:

https://github.com/Tron74/RetroPie-Setup

90% of the scripts have been converted and compiled, there is still 10% of the scripts that need to be modified, for this I seek help from volunteers.
There is also a link for downloading the image with all the packages installed, the Front End works well, but there is still some configuration problem.
I ask anyone interested to help. I chose RetroPie because I have more control over the operating system. I chose the RorckPro64 instead as I have superior performance to any other mini card supported by RetroPie.

I recreated the Git repository including the changes made to the original scripts. each modification has been designed to maintain compatibility with other platforms.

As operating system I installed Armbian 20.02.1 Bionic deprived of the graphic mode.

I therefore send you the link to download the image (16Gb) with the changes made:

Hope for your help thank you very much.
