I made an account on the forum just to say thank you to the Pine64 team. I think it's awesome that Pine64 is doing what they can to maintain operations and continue bringing product to market even in the midst of all the stuff going on.
I ordered my Pinebook Pro a few days after the latest production run opened up pre-orders (after lurking and watching for like a year) and I'll be happy whenever it comes! I'm excited to be a part of the community and of this impressive movement in the world of open computing. I might even get a hold of a few Pinephones here sometime during the beta days.
I probably won't be here on the forums too regularly but I figure leaving this note will accomplish what I set out to do.
Have a good day everyone

| Transflective Display |

Is it possible that you could change the display of the PineTime watch to be transflective? This is not just a whimsical request. It is very important for many smart watch users. That is because to use the watch as a daily driver, it needs to be easily readable in bright sunshine. For anyone who runs, bikes, or does outdoor work, a standard LCD display is pretty useless in bright sunshine. If you are a runner and want to have a running app to display on your smart watch, you need to have a display that is easily readable over a long period (e.g., a 10K run) without depleting the battery.
There aren't many smart watches that have reflective or transflective displays. They are mainly the Qualcomm Toq (defunct), the Pebble (hardware defunct, but community supported software) and the Sony Smartwatch 3, which is the only transflective Android WearOS display.
I have used a Sony Smartwatch 3 for several years, although its facility as a running watch has gotten worse over the years as Runkeeper has removed its WearOS support, and now because my phone no longer supports the latest Android version, the Watchmaker watch faces that I designed myself will no longer load either.
I would like to de-google my life and switch over to a PinePhone with PineTime and write my own running app that will run on the phone and the watch. But to really be useful the watch needs to have a transflective display.
Do you think it is possible to change the PineTime to use a transflective display, either as the standard display (this would be my preference) or as an optional variant?
If not, do you think that it would be possible for someone like me (I'm not really a hardware person) to replace the current display with a transflective one on the watch as DIY project?
In case you are interested, here are some of the 1.6 Inch transflective displays that I have found on the internet:

Thank you so much for the introducing the PinePhone and PineTime. I hope to be using both in the years to come.
[EDIT 2021-04-22: Watchmaker faces miraculously started working again yesterday on my Sony Smartwatch 3, but I would still like to use my PineTime to go with my PinePhone.]

Hello Everyone !!
The title says it all. I'm a complete noob, but want to learn fun little things to do with this phone. I've had the phone sitting in its box for months ( Manjaro Edition ), but now I really want to do something with it. It took me some time for this to sink in, just bc it doesn't work as a phone doesn't mean it still isn't a tool that I can use to educate myself and grow my knowledge.
So, if anyone has any ideas or suggestions of beginner projects that I could attempt and complete with this device, please share you thoughts.
Thanks !!

I'm looking for someone who can do some drawings for the project.
More specifically, I'm looking someone to draw a handful of cartoon characters (4-6 characters total).
If this is something up your alley, then please respond in this thread and I'll get in touch

Hi,
I am having trouble with Ethernet port on Pine H64 B. When I connect it to a GigE port on a switch, it goes get configured correctly, speed and and address, but quit quickly link goes down and there is no way to resurrect. Vert frustrating. I have yet to try a new kernel, but I am using latest GA of Armbian.

These are the errors I see in the dmesg log (journalctl -k).

I have Manjaro with DWM running on the RockPro64 and have just dealt with the audio not working however it's becoming an issue.
Is there anything that needs to be done beyond installing pulseaudio and pavucontrol because I've done that and still no luck.

| Cannot boot from SD cards any longer. |

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here but I cannot boot from the SD Card any longer. I tried multiple cards and multiple images. I can't even boot off of jumpdrive installed on SD cards to reflash eMMC. So now I'm stuck with a dud. My unlock password is not working and I can't reload a new image on the eMMC or boot to an alternate image from SD. Anyone else run in to this problem or have any ideas on how to get it working again?
More info: I can get it to boot in to the default OS and access it BEFORE the screenlock kicks on. While in this mode, when I run lsblk from terminal, I CAN indeed see the SD Storage card here so I's not like it's dead.....it's just that I can't boot off of any images any longer.
