| No Connection to Carrier from Pinephone 3G Model |

Hi there! I have copied the title of the thread (link below) started by @merlin - as its content gives nearly an exact match.
https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=11649
My phone's modem does not register to a carrier/provider anymore, after doing so successfully for about 9 months.
I've tested
- on several distributions consecutively flashed to eMMC (manjaro, mobian, arch)
- with two sim cards of different providers/carriers (working fine in other mobile phones)
While @merlin stated in his solution 'The connector was lying next to the plug' (referring to an antenna issue),
I could not see any lose cable or connector after removing the midframe. Which antenna, anyway? The one for Wlan?
I thought the modem's cellbroadcast related antennas are integrated into the midframe as a coating. Any suggestions?

Hello,
I've been using Manjaro on my PBP, but coming from a Ubuntu background decided to give Armbian a try. I managed to first install Armbian Focal (directly from armbian.com) first on a USB thumbdrive, then from emmc, both successful - but then I decided try Armbian Hirsuite directly on emmc. I booted from the USB drive (Armbian Focal) and wrote the (unxz'd) image to /dev/mmcblk2 (only mmcblk device).
And now it doesn't boot. Here's the weird thing: I don't even see the usual Uboot messages flash by... did I manage to break it somehow? I thought writing to /dev/mmcblkX (no suffix) would write only to the "user" part.
The PBP doesn't change it's behaviour if I try booting off the USB thumbdrive. That drive is unchanged from the time I did the write to emmc, so it should be good in theory.
The power LED does indicate something is happening, luckily. From the (presumed) off state, pressing the power button a few seconds turns the LED on, first red, then shortly after green. If I tap the power button again a bit after, the LED goes off again after a short delay.
Any advice? If I can fix this without opening the case that'd be great, but I'm not too afraid to open it up either, and can wire myself a UART adapter if I have to (Waveshare CP2102 board, I just need to find a spare 3.5mm stereo jack in my parts bin). Or would even be pushing the reset button suffice?
Thank you for any hints!

Why is it that all the other distributions have figured out how to use the Torch icon in the drop-down but Mobian still uses a stand-alone Flashlight app?

| SDCard ignored for booting |

I have bought two new pinephones beta edition with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB EMMC / Community Edition in october 2021 .
Neither one seems to recognize the SDCard nor do they boot from that SDCard as they should according to documentation, not with JumpDrive or the multiboot image nor with the Mobian image, they just ignore the SDCard.
Using the USB-C drive the SDCards with adapter are recognized but the system won't boot from that drive.
I have created the bootable 16GB SCCards (here mmcblk0p1) on Debian using dd:
[boeker@plasma-mobile ~]$ dmesg|grep mmcblk
[ 1.357949] mmcblk0: mmc0:e624 SC16G 14.8 GiB
[ 1.361013] mmcblk0: p1
[ 1.455482] mmcblk2: mmc2:0001 ASTCXX 29.0 GiB
[ 1.455845] mmcblk2boot0: mmc2:0001 ASTCXX partition 1 4.00 MiB
[ 1.456187] mmcblk2boot1: mmc2:0001 ASTCXX partition 2 4.00 MiB
[ 1.458338] mmcblk2: p1 p2
[ 2.421494] EXT4-fs (mmcblk2p2): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. Opts: (null). Quota mode: none.
[ 4.123982] EXT4-fs (mmcblk2p2): re-mounted. Opts: (null). Quota mode: none.
[ 5.400016] FAT-fs (mmcblk2p1): Volume was not properly unmounted. Some data may be corrupt. Please run fsck.

Hello,
I've received my Pinephone a few weeks ago and am struggling to get mobile data working, using $ sudo pacman -Syu i have updated the phone to the latest version. Some notes:
* ofonoctl wan does not list any interface, other ofonoctl commands do not work, probably because there is no interface to work on
* i have input my provider's APN settings
* i got a dedicated SIM card for the phone with mobile data
* calling and sms works just fine
* frequently see the message modem shows no carrier
* in the APN settings, i am unable to click or enable the active checkbox, on some screenshots others posted, the checkbox was clearly checked, whenever i click it, i enter the screen where i can input the APN username/password
Having read through many posts on the subject, i am still at a loss. Any tip is much appreciated.
Thanks!

| GPS/location services don't work with Maps after Bookworm upgrade |

Maps used to work OK on my phone. I could not really use it for navigation but it would show the current location (sometimes it took quite a while, sometimes it was 50 Kilometers off the mark, but it sort of worked.)
After upgrading to Bookworm a few weeks ago I noticed that Maps cannot find my location anymore. When I tap on the respective button in the lower left corner of Maps, a dialogue box opens that tells me to "turn on location services to find your location". The only button (besides "Cancel") is "Location Settings" and it does not do anything.
However, the "Location Services" (when opened via Settings/Privacy) on my phone are switched on and tell me that "No Applications Have Aksed for Location Access".
How can I make Maps work again?
