  Boot from NVME
Posted by: theboz1@verizon.net - 10-22-2021, 07:45 AM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (2)

Last week(or so) I came across a blurb that stated that the latest distribution of (Linux) system, when starting up, allows booting from NVME. BUT I’ve been unable to find that.

Anyone else remember seeing such?

Hi all

I do see the new Pro phone chip is endorsed by the FSF

Will any of the arm based software also be endorsed that will be available for use?

Pinephone bricked after connecting to a PC over USB
Posted by: granolanostalgic - 10-21-2021, 07:12 PM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (1)

Hi all, I was hoping someone here might be able to help me. My Pinephone seems to be bricked ever since I connected it to my PC.

This happened while I was trying to burn the new Manjaro Beta 17 to the eMMC. I inserted an SD card with JumpDrive (I'm not sure which version, but it is pretty old, from ~6 months ago, if that matters) and turned on the phone. I was greeted with the familiar JumpDrive screen. I then plugged in the USB A/C into the Pinephone and my Linux computer and nothing happened - I didn't see any new drives in the file manager or GParted. I tried other USB ports on my computer, but none of them worked.

I then tried the same thing with a different computer, running Windows 10. The first two USB ports I tried produced the same result. The third one worked - or so I thought. Windows went into a loop of detecting the drive and disconnecting it (I guess). This connect/disconnect behavior was happening around once every second. After a few seconds I disconnected the Pinephone and ever since then it won't boot. The screen is totally black no matter what I do. I tried turning it on with and without the SD card (since I have an older Manjaro installed on the eMMC) by holding the power button for 4+ seconds. I tried putting the phone on the charger in case the battery discharged in the meantime, but that didn't help either.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what I could try? Thanks in advance.

PInebook not booting with eMMC enabled
Posted by: aragaer - 10-21-2021, 03:35 PM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (4)

Right now I have an SD card with Manjaro. If I disable eMMC and press reset, the power led goes red and then pinebook boots to Manjaro from SD. If I enable eMMC and press reset, power led goes off and nothing happens. I did check that eMMC is properly connected. What else can I try?

Screen now turning off (and on) after a few seconds
Posted by: 3x5co - 10-21-2021, 01:14 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (3)

I've been using PinePhone / Mobian for a while now, and all of the sudden my screen is going blank if I'm not constantly engaged with the devices (meaning I have my finger on it). If I look at it for a few seconds without touching it, the screen goes off and I have to touch it for it to come back on, usually. Sometimes it just comes back on.

The reverse is also true: When I hit the power button to turn off the screen, after a few seconds I can see the screen glowing, even though it's a black screen, because the backlight is on.

I've tried disabling the blank screen and suspend options in the settings, but this doesn't do anything. Any idea why this might have happened? The only thing I did today was run

wlr-randr --output DSI-1 --scale 1.5

to change the screen DPi. But even after rebooting, that DPi adjustment goes away but this problem persists.

Really ashame to have an hardware with limited/ no support or totally not wokirng.
My last controller got 2 days ago (after a long shipping time) has not quality control stamp..... this brand sell garbage: I spend hundreds of $ to get the rockpro64 beause of his pci-exp 1x and the nas case.  Sata was basically never be able to run stable. The same with the wifi.

No refund, no support....

the funny stuff is that because of this comment PIne refuse to support my issue...
This is the 2nd card broken or un-usable.
I never read while I pay that I will get no support and that driver etc need to have a pray to get them.
I´m not a unix/linux/openmediavault expert...bit I would feel Ashame for Pine64. Can be really exist a Company like this?

I spent more than 200$ to build the NAS with their hardware. It will be sooner in the garbage!

I will make my emails with the Support of Pine public, not only on this forum if situation is not solved (they black-mailed me....I do the same)
