KDE connect SMS bridge to-from PC |

I have always appreciated HeySMS on the Nokia N900
https://github.com/titilambert/HeySms/
It lets me use a Bonjour protocol window in Pidgin IM to bridge to the app and send/receive SMSs which is still a useful mode for many users.
I remembered that the KDE team had made a nice app to do a similar bridge for Android phones.
I am guessing that a script and daemon to listen for KDE connect over wifi or bluetooth would not be too difficult.
For heavy SMS users or people wh need to machine translate incoming and outgoing SMSs on a Linux or even Win/Mac computer this might be the closest we can get to ready made requiring not much dev code recycling for client and server.

No more internet access |

Been a while since I had my UBPorts image booted up. First thing I did was to do some updates on WiFi then took it out with me. First think I notice it was browsing. Then did some testing. Not even ping. Then doing "ip a" shows it did not even had an IP address. Tried rebooting a couple of times. Same result.
Phone, and SMS functions just fine. Just no internet.
Any ideas?

Battery Charger? |

Now personally i love battery chargers as they are so useful, and big batteries so you don't need to flip them that often or be wired when you don't want to.
Have anyone of you tried a product like this to see if it works? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fityle-Universa...B08CVHTB4H
Some sort of a thing like that would be nice. Many years ago I bought 2 cradles for the LG V20 and they where very very useful! No battery? No problem, change battery and wupti, from 0 to 100 in 10 seconds Who needs fast charging really when you have a cradle and a pretty decent size battery.
It is just a lovely thing, so... I wondered if anyone had tried or knew of something that worked for the Pinephone.

Hey everyone, The screen on the pinephone does not seem that strong. I already crack the screen on it. I had to order a new one. Does anyone know about how long it take to come in?
Thank You

Crunchbang//Slimkat experience |

I guess it might be a little to early, but some of us really loved the simplistic of Dark and Light like the Gnulix Crunchbang, lightweight as well, or as it is called today, Crunchbang++
Also Android had its own little nice Black and white lightweight system called Slimkat.
Just throwing out the idea - it could be cool to have something of the same for the Pinephone - maybe one could base it on Crunchbang but most likely a lot of work - I'm not the coder, just the user pretty much.
The system becomes like a gem of its own - it is really nice to see, like a Masterpiece or somewhat of an art form in itself - it has some uniqueness and its own feel and spirit. It's kinda hard to explain but its lovely to see when it succeed, to have the system in the background yet being there doing what it needs, and at the same time using minimal resources so you have that for anything else the user is running.
I was just thinking - and this might be way to early - but who knows, maybe someone can or wanna build on things.
Maybe it is possible to just theme the system that the Pinephone pick out to be the best to run on their phone - that might work as well

Dear Pinephone team, I so hope you succeed and come out on top, Thanks for your work and keep the course - we need the boat of freedom from Big Tech nonsense!
The new phone looks good, much more in the level of something for daily use, the smoothness is helping a lot - it looks great.
Now as far as I know you have some issues that I will try to help out on.
As I understand you still have battery issues, well at least not the longest turn on time - and now having used the LG V20 mobile and knowing the forces overall by using batteries and of different sizes here are my suggestions.
1. Usually a 6400 mAh battery would not be to heavy overall for the user and still comfortable to hold the phone, I found 10500mAh way to big and heavy overall for my LG V20. But around 6400mAh Perfine for my LG V20 was pretty decent and felt good with a plastic cover which further helps on the grip as well. Now of cause I don't know how heavy your mobile is out of the box, but it is always nice to have less issues needing to be connected to a wire. If you make an option for a bigger battery that includes protection of the back camera not sticking out, which I still don't understand this stupid design of most mobiles, if anything you wanna have the camera lower so it does not touch anything when you lay the mobile down on its back. But of cause so much nonsense in our days where they purposely do such things as they have run away from sanity.
2 fix a battery charger or point out something that works, the LG V20 had this and it is VERY useful - it does not matter how long it takes for a Battery Charger to charge really, because it charges while you're are using your phone and thereby speed is really not that important. When the mobile is done, you just use 5-10 sec to change the battery and boom there you go, up and running again. Of cause I would like to see the possibility of more then 3000mAh battery, as it is just nice to not need to do too much of battery changing or needing to have the Cable in all the time.
3. soft Plastic covers *Silicone or whatever it is made out* are nice and cool transparent showing the inner parts and you can get some with a pretty good grip as well
4. send me a Pine Pro and I will test it further out and find more daily issues. Well, I tend to always have ideas but I guess you most likely have more then enough at your hands to fix and sort out and I'm not a programmer or developer. But hey, the pro version with the added horse power looks so much more in the right direction, I really hope you will be blessed by God to further move quickly ahead on this so we have a choice away from the criminals!
5. a feature that google took out from Android and that MANY wants, is the recording feature on calls - that would be one huge giant promotion tool overall for your mobile if it was able to do that out of the box. The free opus format might be a great thing for using for that, although I guess some options might not be bad like m4a or good old mp3, Android is a molested mobile on so many levels and they just keep on jailing us in, we want freedom, because that's the point Gnulix, to be free to do whatever we want!
I think that is all for now that I can recall of things, I think we are many that are ready to move away from Google Android, spyphone, adphone, nonrooted nonsense phone, jailphone and so forth - if you can just provide a good rescue boat that does not sink but keeps a float And it is looking very good - keep it up you guys and keep it sane, open and rooted!
And again, thanks so much for doing this - I have had my eyes on you for a long time, and checking again I now see the Pro version, if it can just do the fundamental things, then we have a new daily driver. This is the direction many wanna go, and finally it looks like we are getting somewhere.
Dearly Regards - Darkijah

cryptocurrency on mobian/pinephone |

I remember having a BTC CLI program for my Sharp Zaurus, probably for my N900 as well.
How can we get a multi currency crypto app running on Pinephone/mobian?
Privacy fans using pinephone need a way to pay without apple/google pay or a credit card.
There is a an untested(by me) CLI wallet for arm7 and arm8 from the official Monero(XML) website https://www.getmonero.org/downloads/ but not a multi-currency wallet,. That is probably something available on github which would need some tweaks to port over to pinephone/mobian.
Ideally there would be btc, xml, and eth as well as other cryptocurrencys.
Monerojo is a Monero only wallet, is FOSS but is written for android so would require much work, though it does have the option of piping transactions through SideShift.ai to automagically convert the transaction to the receiver's desired cryptocurrency without requiring an account.
CakeWallet for most major coins, which I have not seen seems to be fully featured and ready to be strip mined for ideas and maybe backend code, is supposedly FOSS though several releases behind per posts I have seen, the UI which wont really transfer over might not be what a typical Linux user might be used to though.
