Sad LTE data does not work on T-Mobile US with latest postmarketOS 21.06 SP3
Posted by: PacificSinewave - 11-05-2021, 06:17 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (1)

I have a Pinephone Beta Edition (3 GB) running the latest postmarketOS 21.06 SP3 (kernel 5.13.12) Plasma and all updates installed (Discover does not show any updates when connected to WiFi and while Falkon works) and I have never been able to get LTE data working. I am on T-Mobile US network, have good reception, can see all the modem (IMEI) and SIM (IMSI, Subscriber Number etc) information and have received text messages and calls but mobile internet refuses to work (it is not just the browser either as apk is not able to connect either with WiFi disabled). I have verified the APN settings as well and they match what is listed on T-Mobile's website. I have tried turning Mobile Data on and off in the Plasma Control Center, rebooting, various combinations of those and changing the Authentication Method in APN settings. I am perplexed (as it seems that for those who cellular related issues it often is messaging and calls and VoLTE that do not work properly while LTE data does) and also a bit frustrated by this (one of the main reasons I decided to get a Pinephone right now is that it would be better for tethering than my iPhone, especially with the USB C dock that comes with the 3 GB version). Right now there is no check mark in the 'Active:" box below "Internet" on the Cellular Networks -> Access Point page of the Plasma System Settings app but even when there was, internet would not work, even though the AP type is listed specifically as "internet".

  How is your PineTab?
Posted by: dachalife - 11-05-2021, 05:50 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PineTab - Replies (7)

Hi all, I’m looking for some input.

How has your PineTab been holding up & does anyone have any up to date feedback?

I’m not worried about the Linux part, just curious about how they held up to daily carry/use. Need something to throw in my bag weekdays, for a 45 minute Impress presentation connected to an external projector in case the onsite laptop is dead.

I’m already a satisfied PinePhone owner and would love to be able to get rid of my Ipad next.

Looking forward to your replies.

  Convergence tracking website
Posted by: gamerminstrel - 11-05-2021, 03:19 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (5)

In the last couple days, I've started building a website that will hopefully make it easier for the linux community to keep track of what apps are convergent (what works on mouse+keyboard, touch screen, does it fit on a phone screen). This started as a learning project for me but I think this might actually be super handy.

Here's a super rough draft/mockup of what the home page would look like. Is this something a lot of people other than me would be interested in?

  System Updates
Posted by: DeanOnDoberman - 11-05-2021, 11:42 AM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Hi forum, I'm a brand new member to the community and a first time user of anything linux or Pine.....

I received my Pine64 phone yesterday, I've gone through the set-up process and have the phone up and running, connected to the internet, making and receiving calls.

I'm seeing a message saying there's an update available, Update 508 (1.1GiB), which appears to be a System upgrade. When I confirm the update it initiates the command and then  I receive the following message.

Update Issue

Dependency resolution failed
libcanberra=0.30+2+gc0620e4-3

I've got no idea what this means or how to navigate around it or if I even need to update my phone. I have a class10 256GiB memory card inserted straight out the packet.

Any assistance is most appreciated and I thank you in advance. Smile

  Beginner Question about Clusters
Posted by: ragreenburg - 11-04-2021, 09:42 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PINE A64-LTS / SOPINE - No Replies

I am looking to make my own cluster but I noticed the clusterboard was out of stock and so is the SOPINE so I was curious if anyone had any recommendations for other similar products? Or if anyone knows when the PINE ones will be back in stock?

  Chatty stop receiving SMS
Posted by: chadwick - 11-04-2021, 04:36 AM - Forum: PostmarketOS on PinePhone - Replies (2)

Hi,

My Chatty for some unknown reason has stopped working, no message has been received since it stopped receiving messages. After rebooting, the problem still persisted. When the SIM Card was placed in another device, such as Samsung Galaxy s7, it can receive and send message normally, I double check with the phone service provider, nothing was wrong from their SMS service. Phones and contacts working without a problem, I can dial and view contacts.

Is there any good way to remedy Chatty to make it work again? What could be blocking it from working?

Anything helpful are much appreciated.

Device: Pinephone 3GB/32G

  Spare charging base?

Is there a way to get extra chargers for the watch? I could really use one for home and one for at work, but they don't appear to be listed on Pine's store.

  double tap to wake support
Posted by: bam - 11-03-2021, 04:03 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (5)

Hi,
I did some research about non-working double tap to wake feature (when in deep sleep), despite the touch hw has it (thanks anyone who helped BTW).

The problem is Goodix touch driver in mainline kernel doesn't seem to support Gesture (Doze?) mode:
https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/m...n/goodix.c

I found another driver which claims the support (it also follows from it's code):
https://github.com/goodix/goodix_gt9xx_public

Anyone willing to try the alternative driver? Does it fit at all?

@megous

PS:
GOODiX GT911 Programming Guide attached (might be relevant despite we have Goodix GT917S).
Please let me know if it's better to remove the document itself from here.
