Question What's the Pinephone headphone jack/similar part?
Posted by: nfd - 01-15-2022, 07:16 PM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (1)

My headphone connector is a little messed up, e.g. I need to use a rubber band to hold my headphone cables *just so* in order to use the thing. I'm looking that part or similar-enough ones that I could swap out on my board. I'm not afraid of a little soldering and I think it'd be a little silly to buy an entire new mainboard just due to one headphone connector. (My mic is apparently also messed up: given my skill I'd expect it'd be better to just order a new daughterboard and install that, but if anyone's aware of that part, LMK?)

https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PinePhone_component_list lists the part as "JA-3606-001AA 3.5mm audio jack". I didn't find this exact ID on alibaba or digikey, and I haven't found especially similar-looking TRRS jacks on Digikey in a few minutes of digging. So if anybody's got a decent set of calipers to get some approximate dimensions of the connector on their Pinephone, maybe I can use that information to try to find something with a similar spec sheet?

Any other ideas or advice would be welcome Smile

  Waydroid Intallation on Bookworm
Posted by: Dinosaur1946 - 01-15-2022, 06:55 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (6)

Hi All

I have browsed for days and simply can't find a description on how to install Waydroid on Mobian.
Have installed it on Manjaro no problem at all.
If I were to go back to bullseye, it would probably succeed as well.

There are also a few posts about how well it runs on Bookworm, but alas no description as to the method used.

Is there anyone on this forum that could describe how to overcome the bullseye limitation, it would really be appreciated.

Regards

Star screen protector for pinetime?
Posted by: sal - 01-15-2022, 01:03 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PineTime - Replies (7)

I work in an industrial setting, and I want my pinetime to last a while.
What screen protector fits?
What else do you recommend to prolong the lifespan of the device?

Problems with audio via bluetooth connect to car
Posted by: zkajdan - 01-15-2022, 12:35 PM - Forum: PinePhone Software - Replies (1)

Hi,

I've experimented with different distros trying to get audio output from the car MMI. Connecting via bluetooth worked fine in all cases, but either I did not get any sound or I was unable to tune up the volume (the car MMI saying "functionality unavailable this time" when turning the volume knob).

Has anyone gotten this to work, and if so, could you let me know which OS you're using?

  Securely erasing pinephone
Posted by: Byte - 01-15-2022, 11:26 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (2)

Hi all,

I am looking to sell my pinephone and want to securely erase it first, what is the best way of doing this?

I am thinking:

  • Boot from another distro on an SD card
  • Run shred on all partitions on the eMMC
  • Reinstall OS using jump drive image

I think this would work fine but I am wondering
  • Is there a better way of doing this?
  • Is it ok to nuke the eMMC like this or is there firmware, bootloaders etc. on the eMMC that would brick the phone if removed?

Cheers

  CE/FCC certifications for Explorer Edition?
Posted by: kuleszdl - 01-14-2022, 04:52 PM - Forum: General Discussion of PinePhone Pro - Replies (3)

Hi,

I was wondering whether the explorer editions ships with CE/FCC labels? Maybe someone who already got the pre-EE edition can say that? The wiki also does not state any info about this, yet.

Header bar date/time vs time-only option
Posted by: Korac - 01-14-2022, 02:40 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (2)

Hi folks,

I noticed a picture on Twitter showing that Manjaro allows showing date and time instead of only time on the header bar in Phosh. Does anybody know what enables this? Is there an option that I'm missing in Mobian? Or a package missing in Mobian to enable this?

Thanks!

Calls : two rings and call cut and restore.
Posted by: Gribouille - 01-14-2022, 07:40 AM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - No Replies

Hello,

Configuration : Bookworm ( kernel 5.15 ) up to date.

Sometimes, when I make a call, I could ear the ring tone from the phone called but I have the ring of my phone in the same time, like If someone call me.

Today, a call was cut-off and the phone was ringing like if someone call me. After that I accept the call the talk could be continued. The other person said me that the line was cut-off and he doesn't make anything to call me.
