Thanks for posting this, it may save some folks a bit of grief.

NOW, I wonder if any of the distro's currently offered for the Pro ---> will allow an sd card to boot, when that distro is installed to the eMMC.?

This would require some boot instructions be installed on the eMMC, so the Pro could boot like the original Pinephone.
