Where do find infos about Linux development for the Pine A64+?
Posted by: Quintus23M - 01-20-2016, 03:30 AM - Forum: Linux on Pine A64(+) - Replies (1)

Hi all,

do we have any central place on the forum, where we could share the Linux developer informations?

I guess there are a few people involved and working hard to get Linux support done for the Pine A64+. But I don't see any much details yet on the progress or any low level tutorials how to start digging deeper.

Maybe we could create an extra place or thread, where we could share all these informations. This would help to convince even novice developers to start helping and testing out. First thing could be a short description, how the boot sequence of the Pine A64+ and the A64 processor is working in detail. Then offering all the details about the bootloaders and sharing the binary blobs AND the bootloader source code as well. Same goes for u-boot and a basic Linux root filesystem. Even with some small details and informations we could get more traction and help each other...

Any thoughts and ideas?

  Software defined radio SDR
Posted by: phonetic - 01-19-2016, 07:25 PM - Forum: Pine A64 Projects, Ideas and Tutorials - Replies (7)

Playing with software defined radio eg RTL-DVB-T USB stick or SDRPlay RSP, Linux or Windows OS
Pine64 would be a great controller for low power SDR application Linux or Android OS
Keen to get ideas or thoughts ??

  Remix OS

You said that the Remix OS will be available soon on the website once a specialized PINE64 version has been ported over. When do you think that Remix will be available for download?

  Support for 802.15.4 (6LoWPAN & Zigbee)
Posted by: dperkins3600 - 01-19-2016, 02:17 PM - Forum: Pine A64 Projects, Ideas and Tutorials - Replies (6)

HI,

For wireless interfaces, it appears that WiFi and BLE are going to be supported. However, it would be extremely useful if one or more IEEE 802.15.4 interfaces were added. This would allow the device to perform the role of a 6LoWPAN edge router or a Zigbee coordinator. The price point of the Pine64 with a IEEE 802.15.4 interface would allow an economical creation of an IoT network using 6LoWPAN or Zigbee devices. The Hub from Smartthings costs $99, and has a wired Ethernet interface, an IEEE 802.15.4, Bluetooth, and Z-wave interfaces. Also, it is a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9, with 2 USB ports, 512MB DDR3 RAM, and 4GB FLASH. Thus, a Pine64 with a IEEE 802.15.4 interface is a much more powerful system with a much lower cost.

So please, consider adding a IEEE 802.15.4 interface. (Note: the Z-wave is an older and proprietary interface. To me, it is not that important.) The cost to add a IEEE 802.15.4 should be less than $5. For example, take a look at ATMEL ATmega256rfr2.

  Kodi on Linux
Posted by: stejep - 01-19-2016, 04:51 AM - Forum: Linux on Pine A64(+) - Replies (4)

I have seen many posts about Kodi on Android, but from what I have read Kodi runs better on Linux.

Do we know if Kodi will be ported to 64bit Linux in the Pine.

Hi,
will the Pine A64 have a CE mark that declares that the product meets the requirements of the directives of the European Union?  Cool
