I'm used to seeing an update around the 15th of each month on the Pine64 blog. Are those not happening anymore?
Are the updates somewhere else?

I have the ANSI pbp from the 2023 batch. Updated the keyboard/trackpad firmware from here https://github.com/dragan-simic/pinebook...rd-updater. Now I can't take screenshots. It's not just that the F9 "Print Screen" key is unresponsive. The actual function of taking screenshots seems to be completely disabled on this computer.
And here's why I'm saying that:
When F9 Print Screen failed, I thought, no problem: I'll just use a dedicated screenshot app like flameshot, or use gimp, so I tried those workarounds but everything failed. Black screen or error messages on all attempts, using multiple apps. Gimp returned an error that said "all possible methods failed," or words to that effect.
I'm a heavy user of screenshots to reproduce financial charts generated on my local machine, for publishing. If I can find a fix, this Pinebook Pro will become my daily driver. Ideas?

My bad luck finally caught up with my computer’s, I’m down to a iPhone that I have not been able to master font.
My Dell laptop has bounce off the floor one too many times, Ubuntu doesn’t want to wake up, and I don’t have funds for a 6” tablet, so this Pinebook Pro looks real interesting, and would do all the messaging and browsing without any hassle with a small phone at double 7 I need a good terminal
Any comments appreciated

How many SPI ports/buses are broken out/available on SOQUARTZ? |

I am interested in the SOQUARTZ compute module, but before I commit to getting one I am trying to work out how many SPI ports/buses are available for my potential application as I need 2 (for technical reasons using 1 SPI bus with multiple CS pins is not possible).
As far as I can tell from the schematic only SPI3 is available on CN1 100 pin connector.
I could see any obvious SPI options on CN2.
As I do not need to use the WiFi / BLE module is there any way I can access SPI1 / SPI2
I look forward to any feedback.
Thanks.

| How can I share a network folder to a Windows or Linux PC |

wibble commented in one of his answers to my questions in this forum, that it is easier to have a network between a Linux PC and a PinePhone than a network with a PinePhone and a Winows PC. In Ubuntu, it is easily possible to share a network folder with another PC. How can I share a PinePhone folder as a network shared folder for instance to a Ubuntu PC over for instance the USB-c dock connected over ethernet cable to the Ubuntu PC?

Possible US legislative threat to Pinephone? |

Hello, I stumbled upon something here in the US that might be a concern to Pinephone and users of non Android/iOS phones.
There are organizations and people pushing for US States to pass legislation to mandate "smartphones" and "tablets" come preloaded with family-friendly content filters by default.
While I'm not against the idea of having content filters to prevent minors from accessing hardcore pornography (labeled as "obscene material" in legislation), the way the proposed legislation is written makes it a criminal/fineable offense to sell devices that don't have such filters in place. While this may be a simple thing to do for Android and iOS, it seems like it may be a problem for librephones like Pinephone.

Here is the bill from Utah, which became law:
https://le.utah.gov/~2021/bills/hbillenr/HB0072.pdf
Here is a similar bill in Montana, which is in the legislative process. It has passed the House and is currently in a Senate committee.
https://leg.mt.gov/bills/2023/billhtml/HB0349.htm
I wanted to post this here because my legalese is not great and to see what others think.
Maybe this won't be a problem for Pinephone and it's users, but if my understanding is correct, it could be.

For the past six months or so I stopped using my PP because the screen had multiple cracks due to too many drops (it is a slippery device), and the lower right of the screen did not register the letter 'o' making it not very useful to type words with the screen keyboard.
After this period of no use, I went to check out its state and it needed charging. I forgot why, but I opened the back of the PP and noticed that the batter was swollen.
I decided to see if I could get the PP working again by replacing the battery and LCD touchscreen. The Pine64 store does not sell replacement battery's any more. I found an alternative (Replacement Battery for Samsung Galaxy J7 EB-BJ700BBC SM-J700 (2015 Ver)) from https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Pine64+Pine...ent/146110.
I purchased the replacement battery and it works with the PP.
I then ordered a replacement LCD touch screen from the Pine64 shop. Shipping was only about a week, which was faster than expected. I found a video by Terminal_Heat_Sink to be just what I needed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CgdAMhqSeA.
I guess my PP will be working for at least another two years.
BIG THANKS to Pine64 for the replacement LCD touchscreen, and for using a generic type battery, and to Terminal_Heat_Sink for the replacement part and video.

I’ve searched the forums but haven’t found any answers to my problem I received my PBP yesterday before work I decided to setup the laptop and update it everything was going smooth and I was generally happy with my purchase I started the update command it said something about outdated keys I updated those continued with the update and rebooted the device (all through the terminal) after that it hung on the restart screen for a moment then restarted it flashed the boot up screen for Manjaro with the loading symbol and then went blank after about 5 or so minutes I held the power button to force the device off and now I get a blank screen with everything EMMC/microsd/ and usb won’t even work my usb drive receives no power no matter the usb port I use (mine has a power indicator so I can tell if it’s in use or not) so I’m stuck I have no idea what to do the power light on PBP is solid green just no activity on the screen whatsoever do I need to disable my EMMC or mess with the SPI? Any help is appreciated thank you!
