SSH From Outside LAN not working
Posted by: nahssclay - 06-15-2016, 08:16 PM - Forum: Getting Started - No Replies

Hi all. Not sure how many of you have tried to SSH into your pine64 (using debian image) from outside of the LAN. I am unable to do so. Here are some things I have discovered to help.

1. I have a Raspberry Pi that I can SSH into from the outside. I have a router/modem combo from COX and can SSH from the outside and inside the LAN just fine. And strange enough, I don't even have to forward any ports to do this.
2. I tried to open the port on the router and looks like that doesn't matter one way or another.
3. When the RPi is plugged in to the router/modem, when I check the port 22 on a website, I enter my outside LAN IP and scan port 22 opens. When I remove the RPi and scan again port 22 closes.
4. With the pine64, I have the SSH setup. I can ssh to it from inside my lan network. Can't access outside my LAN.
5. Ran nmap

Code:
sudo nmap -p22 **outside LAN IP**
on my pine64 and it says port 22 is filtered. Now I haven't checked if it says open with RPi only attached to the router/modem but will try that.

6. Ran tcpdump
Code:
tcpdump -i eth0 port 22 -n -Q inout

and it doesn't even detect traffic at all, so then I think it's a router issue.
I'm trying every trick I can think of. Anyone have some ideas as to what is going on? If you need more info, just ask! Thanks for the help in advance!

Still waiting. No response from support.
Posted by: Rick - 06-15-2016, 05:26 PM - Forum: Shipment Related Discussion - Replies (4)

I've emailed support AT LEAST 3 times since I got my "Your Package has shipped". I have yet to hear back from them about ANYTHING.

I got the email on May 27th. That's almost 3 weeks ago.

It came with a tracking number. I emailed them a few days later to let them know the tracking number would not work. Then about a week ago I got the Kickstarter email saying that some packages didn't get "scanned" or whatever. Now I see that MANY other people are in the same boat.

I tried my tracking number again... Still, nothing. It just says "Pending" like it did since May 27th.

Why am I being ignored by support? Why hasn't my package gotten here yet? Why hasn't my tracking number been updated? Why haven't I received any information other than the Kickstarter update that blamed the shipping company?

This is my tracking number... As if it would help.

  RTL8723bs Bluetooth
Posted by: xalius - 06-15-2016, 03:11 PM - Forum: Wifi/BT Module - Replies (21)

Hi, I was playing a bit with the bluetooth part on the RTL8723bs. What I gather from the documentation and the web it's just a normal serial interface and needs to be initialized correctly. I used a small program from https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8723bs_bt and was able to talk to the BT module on /dev/ttyS1 (physical UART is UART1 on Port G of the A64) and it seems it was able to initialize the BT and hook it up to the Linux BT subsystem. (see http://pastebin.com/Z3RUS9kc for output and dmesg). Now I have to see if it actually works :-)

Edit: while the initialization seems to work, the Linux BT stack doesnt register any new adapters, I have to look into how to debug that....

Ubuntu boot very slow with wifi driver
Posted by: remainder - 06-15-2016, 02:06 PM - Forum: Ubuntu - Replies (9)

Hi,
I recently moved over to the Ubuntu image after longsleep stopped supporting the Arch version. However, I'm now getting very slow boot times of up to 5 minutes, and the issue seems to be with the wifi driver:

Does anybody have any ideas on solving this? Updating to the latest kernel version using the scripts from longsleep's repo hasn't helped.

Hello,

I got problem with using my lbp 6020 printer. I used the 32bit drivers as amr64 drivers are not available. Everything went Ok, but when try to print a test page or any other, the printer shows "Filter Failed" error and it does not print. Have someone encountered this?

  WIFI/BT Power Supply / VBAT-EXT
Posted by: xalius - 06-15-2016, 01:10 PM - Forum: Wifi/BT Module - Replies (3)

I was just browsing the schematics for the Pine from the Wiki. On page 15 of the schematic where the connections for the WIFI/BT module are made, there is a direct connection between VCC-WIFI (the module supply) and VBAT-EXT (the external battery voltage after the current sensing shunt). What is the reason for that, couldn't that cause trouble in some setups?

Pine64 is slow... is it because I have Remix OS 8gb on 64g SD?
Posted by: jousley - 06-15-2016, 12:51 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PINE A64(+) - Replies (7)

Hi guys,

So finally after a order two chargers off of Amazon and rewriting my SD card about ten times I have successfully booted Remix OS. My concern is that it is very slow and crashes a fair amount. They only way I've managed to boot it is by download and using the Remix V2.0 designed for 8bg on a 64g SD card. I was wondering if this will be contributing to the slow performance?

Thanks,

Josh

  How to install Touch Screen?
Posted by: firelegend - 06-15-2016, 10:03 AM - Forum: POT modules - Replies (1)

I got the kit that included the touchscreen and a few other things I am not even sure what they are Big Grin don't have the case yet which I know is on the way, does anyone have photos of how to install the touch screen correctly? I would like to use it for the first time with that, or do I need to attach it to a monitor and keyboard before I can setup the touch screen? I've not turned my pine64 on yet :Big Grin was hoping the OS was already on the mini SD but from the look of the forum here I may need to make a boot card.

Swap out cards with multiple OSs?
Posted by: BeerSnob - 06-15-2016, 09:18 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PINE A64(+) - Replies (1)

Logic dictates this is possible, but thought I'd throw a quick question about it....

I have Remix OS 2.0 up and running....can I get another SD card and install, say a linux img on it and swap it out at any time?

Thanks
