Attaching a physical button to the ROCK64
Posted by: momoster69 - 03-02-2019, 11:35 PM - Forum: Rock64 Hardware and Accessories - Replies (1)

Hi All,

I have downloaded the package that allows Python and GPIO interaction: https://github.com/mrfixit2001/Rock64-R64.GPIO

I have a button wired to the Ground pin and the pin 18 (https://www.cnx-software.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Rock64-Pi-2-Bus-Pinout.png)
[/url]
so it looks like I am getting errors with my [url=https://pastebin.com/QpP1wgKH]script
(https://pastebin.com/QpP1wgKH).
errors appear after I ctrl-c in terminal, the two errors are:
Error: Unable to get GPIO value
You must setup() the GPIO channel (BCM 18) first

does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Reboot problem on latest ayufan and 4.4
Posted by: /dev/null - 03-02-2019, 04:37 PM - Forum: Linux on RockPro64 - Replies (2)

Reboot problem mentioned "Fixed" in 0.7.11 ( https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=6706&highlight=0.7.11+reboot ) seems back again.

100% repeatable "sudo reboot" leads to hang on next kernel boot on both 0.7.11 and 0.7.12 pre-release.

System hangs after

Code:
[    0.002074] Console: colour dummy device 80x25
[    0.002493] console [tty0] enabled
[    0.002815] bootconsole [uart0] disabled
lines right before

Code:
[    0.003210] Calibrating delay loop (skipped), value calculated using timer frequency.. 48.00 BogoMIPS (lpj=96000)
line that appears next after cold boot.

mrfixit2001 kernel reboots fine as well as ayufan mainline (though the latter misses eMMC which is a showstopper).

Attaching a long log file containing normal boot and a hang after restart.

Strangely... another board (same RockPRO64 v2.1 4g) manufactured 1 month earlier doesn't have the issue. I tried swapping eMMC to make sure it's not a tainted distributive and the problem remained on the same board each time.

Any ideas?

Any info when this will come to sell? Just trying to figure out if it's a few months or end of year or longer? Really looking forward to it.

and is there a location to watch for updates about it, follow, or RSS?

Using ESP32 as WiFi and Bluetooth Module
Posted by: shripal17 - 03-01-2019, 01:00 AM - Forum: Rock64 Hardware and Accessories - Replies (2)

Is there any way I can use the Espressif's ESP32 Module as only WiFi and Bluetooth Module for Rock64 using the GPIO Pins/Interface (e.g. UART/SPI/I2C)?

I can't find any references which would allow this functionality. All I could find are code examples for using ESP32 as standalone microcontroller

My goal is to use ESP32 as WiFi and Bluetooth Module on Android

  [split] Better WiFi/BT module?
Posted by: moriel5 - 02-28-2019, 06:13 AM - Forum: Wifi/BT Module - Replies (3)

If possible, could you please add Intel Wireless-AC 3168 or 3165 modules?
Also Qualcomm Atheros cards would be good.
The main issue with Realtek WiFi, is the the drivers are absolutely horrendous, and usually very unstable (former beta tester here, and Realtek did not seem to care about the quality of their drivers when I spoke with them about it).
Broadcom is also alright, however on Linux the best quality is with Intel and Qualcomm (due to them actually being serious about supporting Linux).

Regarding firmware, Also Realtek utilizes closed-source firmware, so that is not a real reason to go with them.
Realtek being the only option (I do not see any other boards I can connect to the WiFi/BT socket) is currently my main blocker from buying any Pine64 boards (and I'd love to switch over from Raspberry Pis), with my secondary blocker is (for me) inadequate USB I/O (I require at least 4 ports, not including USB-C, so 4 USB2 ports is better for me than 2 USB2 and 1 USB3).

I am interested in AMPAQ's quality though, so if anyone can post about it, I'd be very happy.

By the way, since the RockPro64 already has a PCIe x4 connector, why not start using M.2 for WiFi/BT on future iterations of Pine64 products? This will widen compatibility with more cards, as well as allow for more bandwidth (say if one would wish to use the Intel Wireless-AX 22260 for up to 600Mbts on 2.4Ghz Wireless-AX, or up to ~2400Mbts on 5Ghz Wireless-AX).

  Kicad library part
Posted by: maya.b - 02-28-2019, 02:31 AM - Forum: P64-LTS / SOPINE Hardware, Accessories and POT - Replies (4)

Hi All,

I promised this many many moons ago and here it is. Unzip this, and put the two files in your project library.

The delay is mostly that I keep evolving the library part so it's still a "work in progress" but does work, has been debugged as far as I know, and has been used for a production project. The sopine lib is broken into functional units rather than having all 204 pins on one block. There's one for power, gnd, hdmi, ethernet, etc ...

The footprint for it is for the TE_2013289_Debug. The manufacturer part number from TE is: 2-2013289-1

Boot from USB - What's about resizing the partitions?
Posted by: hg6806 - 02-28-2019, 01:38 AM - Forum: Linux on Rock64 - Replies (5)

Hello together

Yesterday my new Rock64 2GB arrived. Very nice piece!
I want to use this for IOT "iobroker"

There are for Rock64 ready made Armbian images.

I configured the Rock64 to boot from USB and create an USB3.0-Memorystick with this bootable iobroker Image.
It boots up, but then it stops. Could it be, that the memory or partitions of the 64GB Stick has to be resized?

When I use an SSD by an SATA to USB3.0 Adapter, I will not boot up at all.

I know this partition resizing of bootable USB-devices from the Raspberry Pi.

How is it at the Rock64?

Does anybody has a manual for this?

Thank you!

Rock64-4gb,Armbian Debian Stretch: Plex, Radarr, NZBGet and Sickchill WOW

Received my Rock64 and have been having some fun with it, redoing it a couple times etc.
Was a bit worried about performance coming from a RPI 3b+, due to some posts here. No longer worried.

I now have a great little setup going. Plex Media Server, SickChill, NZBGet and thanks to armbian-config's software section, Radarr (I really messed it up trying to do it manually. Never got it working. Mono problem I believe).

So far everything is working quite well. Has a usb 2.5" drive connected.

So, just my good experience. Imaged the sdcard up. Wrote it to another card to confirm it works right. I am rather happy at this point and a part of me wonders how much better this might work on the RockPro64 Smile
