Greetings!
I saw a post a few days ago commenting that the preorder PBP's were being sold at-cost as a thank you to community members (or something to that effect). This brought 2 questions to my mind:
1: Are you planning on raising the price of the PBP once you open it up to the general public?
2: If not, how is the Pine64 project sustained? While I'm all for low prices, "don't be evil" philosophies, and philanthropic tendencies, I also recognize that you guys need to make SOME sort of money in order to sustain the project. Where do those funds come from?

Hi all,
I am a new on forum, and sorry in advance of my speack english which is so bad.
My project is to create a small device to scrap web site like amazon, this device will be set ON 24/24h and each day it will scrap again all webpage list.
To scrap webpage, I used Python3.6 with Selenium and BeautifulSoup.
I have trying Rapsberry Pi3+ and an Odroid XU4 to scrap more 10000 web site.
Pi3+ : it's scraps 100 webpage/H
XU4 : 360 webpage/H
The goal is to get 600webpage/H
There are few days, I found RockPro64 with its multi quad core, and I thinks this device can be my solution to get my objective.
------------
My cart:
ROCKPro64 2GB/4GB
7″ LCD TOUCH SCREEN PANEL
ROCKPro64 2×2 MIMO Dual Band WIFI 802.11AC/BLUETOOTH 4.2 MODULE
ROCKPro64 PLAYBOX ENCLOSURE
ROCKPro64 12V 5A POWER SUPPLY or ROCKPro64 12V 3A POWER SUPPLY
16GB eMMC Module
------------
Before validate my cart, I want know how many time while take a Rockpro64 to open x webpage/H
Someone can help me and run this test (python) on RockPro64? And share me the elapsed time
If it is work, I will add in my cart x10 Rockpro64
Thanks you very much

Hi all,
I want to use that ROCKPro64 system, with an Ubuntu server or Debian, as a 10 to 12 SATAIII harddrives NAS.
The idea is to use this controller card, which is a PCI-e 2.0 4x card with Marvell 88SE9215 chipset (1 PCI-e lane to 4 SATAIII per chipset).
I know that technically, the Marvell 88SE9215 is working on the ROCKPro64, but this controller board also use another type of chip, and I cannot find-out what they are exactly...
I you look at a close-up picture, you can clearly see that each of the 4 PCI-e lanes goes to the bigger chip on the center, then to the smaller four chips and then to the mini-SAS connectors (and then mini-SAS to 4 SATAII). But the 88SE9215 chip only takes a single PCI-e lane according to its datasheet, so I suspect that board to use four 88SE9215 chips and some kind of PCI-E lanes splitter in between to give each 88SE9215 a single PCI-e lane.
Does anyone have more information? Am I wrong? And more importantly, does this card works on the ROCKPro64?
For more info, I want to replace my old Core2duo based NAS, and I currently have 10 harddrives of 3TB to manage. I use ZFS-on-linux, which seem to work on ROCKPro64, with a 10 discs RAID-Z2. I know the datarate won't be extraordinary high, but I only need it to saturate the gigabit Ethernet with Samba shares, so about 100MB/s top.
[EDIT] Title and typos...

Hi Folks,
I've been experimenting with my NAS case and various drive configurations - 2.5", 3.5", SSD, Hybrid, Combinations - and I've settled on the use of 2 Seagate 12TB Exos drives (https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-256MB-Cache-Enterprise-ST12000NM0007/dp/B0759Q9FXZ/) (and they've released 14TB). The lower capacity of the 2.5" SSDs didn't balance the lower capacity available. By striping the two 12TB drives, I have almost 23TB of usable space and over 250MB/sec sustained write performance.
By using a low-profile, 5VDC fan (https://www.amazon.com/Wathai-80mm-10mm-Brushless-Cooling/dp/B07PXSB9W3/) and the standard low-profile RP64 heatsing and fan, I can maintain sub-40C temperatures when running all 6 cores with an artificial sysbench load. During normal operation I usually see temps in the sub-30C range.
One step that I did take was to tape the SATA cables to keep them clear of the fan blades.
All together, a very good solution for a micro-NAS or media center/server.

Is it just me, or can more people test login in with a Chromebook?
My password works when I'm on a Windows machine, but I can't login with my Samsung Chromebook Plus.
I have the password in a mail, so I'm not typing it, I'm pasting it.

Hello all,
I cracked open my pinebook after I noticed the hindge was opening the case a little bit when opening the lid. Some of the plastic is broken in many of the screw points, so it got me thinking; what are alternative ways to reuse the hardware in my pinebook. From the wiki doc on the LCD screen it said that the interface for the screen is an eDP (embedded DisplayPort), but the ribbon cable on the pinebook board is the same size as the DSI interface on a raspberry pi 3b (and others). But I also noticed that the same cable drives the web camera too.
The cable has the following information on the sticker that was covering the connector:
YD200 LCD Cable
P/N: FPC-C0176
Date code: 18/10/08
Vendor code: XBH
Is there an easy (cheap) way to adapt this to DSI or HDMI input? I would like to use it with a Retropie setup.
Thanks

Found a few minor issues on the Pinebook Pro specifications page;
https://store.pine64.org/?product=14-pin...nux-laptop
The weight is given in both metric & pounds, (aka lbs). But the dimensions are not also given in inches.
(Yes, I know us yanks are behind the times... and we can use a unit conversion tool... however, it's just a few numbers.)
Next, the Flash section has a old data on upgradable size;
Flash: 64 GB eMMC 5.0 (upgradable up to 64GB). The first two batches release for PINE64 forum user edition contains 128G eMMC module.
Probably should read;
Flash: 64 GB eMMC 5.0 (upgradable up to 128GB). The first two batches release for PINE64 forum user edition contains 128G eMMC module.
If there is a different method to report web page typos and such, just let me know.

Hello pine64 community!
I am really happy to finally see great laptops such as the pinebook pro, stating to emerge with RISC - ARM architecture.
I have been following the developments for years and although in the smartphone, iphone, ipad product lines there are super fast RISC SoCs since many years, there is a long delay for this technology to pass to the laptop sector.
Pinebook Pro is the best available laptop right now in the market for an amazing price and I wish to congratulate the Pine64 designers for this effort.
Unfortunatelly, my personal computer needs are a bit more demanding, using my laptop for mathematic-scientific simulations and although I wish to ditch my x86 laptop for years now I still can't do it.
Fortunately, the last crop of arm chips (ie cortex A76, A77 not custom samsung or Apple chips) seems that they have caught up with the x86 ones and they demonstrate HUGE improvements on single thread and multithread performance!
Presently, the successor of Rockchip RK3399, the RK3588 based on Cortex A76 is being manufactured and according to Rockchip "mass production is planned for Q1 2020"! That is so soon! Considering that cortex-A76 provides more than 100% performance improvement over the RK3399's cortex-A72 in single thread, it is amazing news! Also Mediatek has announced that they are preparing their next Cortex-A77 Soc for 2020! These are amazingly fast chips!
Please PINE64 designers, for power users like myself consider creating a beefed up version of Pinebook Pro with a SoC like RK3588 and a little bit more RAM, or even better, socketed RAM not soldered so people can upgrade them according to their needs?
Congratulations again for your great products!
