Late December Casual Community Update

The Debian OS is a favorite for me,  however kinda wish it had the Gnome Desktop.

MATE is a fork of gnome 2

So I have read, but it doesn't look or feel like it to me.

I dislike the default skin MATE comes with and use an older one. Have you tried finding a different theme?

    OK  so for testing purposes  (using synaptic) I added the Gnome Desktop to the old Dell Laptop that is
     also running the Debian/Mate.  ( Yep, it works )

     I think it will also work fairly easy on the PBP, it just adds several boot options at the start menu.
      One of the options includes 'Wayland'  that seems to have some admin conflicts, but the 'Classic
       Gnome'  seems to work ok...   but,  I have only just started trying it.

    I wanted to put Gnome on my PBP without having to go into the existing OS that could cause conflict
      with the current hardware compatibility.

    *   Now I think I am ready to try the same process on my PBP    ( ? )
