[Article] Inspecting the RISC-V Linux Images for Star64 SBC
#1
Star64 is Pine64's new 64-bit RISC-V Single-Board Computer, based on the StarFive JH7110 SoC.

In this article we’ll…
(1) Look inside the brand new Linux Images for Star64
(2) Decompile (with Ghidra) the RISC-V Linux Kernel
(3) Figure out how Apache NuttX RTOS might run on Star64

You have tried the "wrong" Armbian. Smile
Here is a version that is very easy to run (run the image from the SD card once to update the regular u-boot in SPI and then just write the desired image to the SD card, insert it into the Star64 and turn on the power, no manual operations are needed, the system starts automatically). It runs DE (XFCE\IceWM) with quite acceptable speed and you can use Star64 right now as a mini PC. I even watch video clips on it in windowed mode (fullscreen doesn't work yet). The only thing that lacks full support so far is a full-fledged browser. While the text Dillo is working.
In the latest versions of ArmbaTV, almost all the main equipment works (LAN USB HDMI Wifi BT, analog and HDMI audio).

By the way, another plus of the loader update. You get the opportunity to easily start the same as Yocto (Fishwaldo). I checked, Yocto images run without problems when the default state of the switch is "Flash". I.e. you do not need to change the position of the switch on the board anymore (it remains in the factory state), this greatly facilitates the process of using Star64 by ordinary users.
If Pine64 makes this small fix right away in the SPI, which is recorded at the factory, it will allow users to very easily launch any system, write it to an SD card and insert it into Star64, nothing else needs to be done.
