Ideas anyone?

I think that dependency list is out-dated.  Perhaps you didn't do the "apt update" to refresh package info? If that's not the problem try "apt --fix-broken install".

Edit 1: Are you on bullseye or bookworm?
Edit 2: Also do "apt-mark showhold" to see if you have any explicitly-held packages.

Thanks, treebear.
I'm using bookworm.
Unfortunately --fix-broken didn't help.
But I noticed that I get this message when updating, could that be the cause? Can it be fixed?

Code:

Yep, that's the problem.  Your Debian repository is getting updated but the Mobian one isn't due to an authentication change.  There is a cure!

Indeed. Thank you!

I'm very happy. Everything seems to work again.

I will shuffle off and be grumpy somewhere else for a while.

I guess I am lucky that I found shortly before I was about to buy two more PinePhones. Now I will wait to see how my experiments with PostmarketOS go before I spend any more money.

you could give Maemo Leste a SD boot try in the meantime.

Interestingly the change for the app drawer at the bottom, from a tap to activate it to a slide does actually solve one problem. With tap to activate it is quite easy to hit the drawer causing it to slide up while trying to hit the spacebar whilst typing some text. Which I find mildly annoying. Now that the drawer has to slide up from the bottom missing the spacebar is no longer a problem.

However, currently switching between PinePhone and a Pro (both with Mobian) the former with the tap behaviour and the latter with the slide behaviours is mucking up my muscle memory.

I am aware of Maemo Leste but I'd actually like something with the XFCE desktop at the moment. I looked at UB Ports briefly but there are still some things that don't work with the PPPro.

The search for the perfect PP(Pro) OS/GUI, like the search for the perfect tent is an eternal and ongoing project.
