suckless surf on arch linux pinebook pro scrolling issue

Using suckless surf browser in arch on pinebook pro, I had issue with some of the scrolling using key commands(vertically scrolling up didn't work at all). I compiled with the -fsigned-char flag to solve the problem. Works perfect now. This tip came to me via the following link:
