Pinebook Pro structural integerity failing
#41
My palmrest arrived yesterday. Austrian customs didn't charge me (until now).
The palmrest comes with no bolts included. But there is a black patch, the same size of the trackpad. What is this supposed to be?
Swapping components was pretty easy. I beefed up the area where the hinges are bolted on with some epoxy. Due to the mods to the hinges the lid now operates easily.  Still holds the lid in any position. Very happy! Smile

I've added a comment in the Wiki Troubleshooting on this issue. It's not very helpful, in the sense their is little to do, except replace. But, replacements are now available. And if someone wants to expand the Wiki section on this issue to include work arounds, repairs or outright re-enforcement, feel free.

Here is the section:

Wiki - Pinebook Pro - Cracks in the plastic

As usual, feel free to correct, improve or comment, (good or politely bad).

From what people have said, it made be possible to improve the structural integrity of the chassis using something like epoxy resin. I've ordered an ANSI keyboard replacement for my ISO model. Whence that arrives I may perform re-enforcement before I install it.

For reference, the wiki details about the case cracks has moved here: https://wiki.pine64.org/index.php?title=...he_plastic
