Unable to initialize message in chatty
#1
When I click on + to choose one of my contacts in chats (chatty) . Chats never initializes a chat dialog but instead goes back to the main choose a contact screen again. If someone texts me first it works just fine. I'm just unable to start a chat myself.

I think this is a known issue.
Try prepending the country code (+xx) when starting a new chat and/or change your contacts to include the country code.
#3
That did it. Thanks very much.

Last time i tried to Dial a contact that had +xx in the GSM number , the dialing failed.
Has that been fixed or ??

I mean since the suggestion of prepending the +xx countrycode ?

All my contacts have the country code in front of them and I can call them (both from the contacts window and the history).

And I've also just tried calling a number (dialing manually) with the countrycode, which worked just fine.

I have no issues making and receiving calls or SMS but I cannot do either from contacts. Clicking the chat or call buttons registers nothing for me.

Do your contacts have the country code prefix?
#8
No. Not all of them. Maybe something corrupt during the import process? I imported them via my Google account. But, I added the country code (1) to 6 of them and the manually created a contact but still nothing happens when attempting to initialize a chat or call from Contacts. Only numbers come up in the caller ID for both chat's and calls.

Is there a way to wipe all contacts and then import them through vcf?

Not 100% sure, but I think contacts (and calendar afaik) is stored in ~/.local/share/evolution.
You could try wiping it (and maybe restart the phone because some apps might still have the contacts cached) and then try to reimport it and reboot again.

I have not tried 'importing' my contacts.

I entered every contact manually through the GUI and they do just work that way.

The incoming text is recognized and it posts the name who is texting,  however on incoming phone calls, it does not show the callers name.
