I have the fear that this is an hardware problem within the latest PBP models delivered in June!
Where can I contact Pine and check this out?
You can try opening a support ticket here, but the response time for their 2nd line of support... Let's just say it isn't great. I created a ticket back on June 7th, they forwarded it to their engineering team on June 9th, and I still haven't heard from them.
Have already opened a ticket. We will see what happens ;-)
Same output as well.
I've logged a ticket to Pine64.
Thanks for sharing the link.
On a side note, I also have quite a large number of dead/stuck pixels. And they're weirdly line up vertically in the middle of the screen... lining up with the webcam position...

Gently massage do not help?

Didn't help.
I was thinking maybe it's related? Some kind of physical damage in that vertical area - including the webcam? Sounds silly even to my ears...
On a side note, I tried to update the keyboard/touchpad firmware. Now touchpad settings in KDE lists "Pine64 Pinebook Pro Touchpad". Fn + F10 now properly maps to Numlock. Before that wasn't the case.
I ran again dmesg | grep video and the output is not changed: videodev: Linux video capture interface: v2:00

I have already tried the switches and everything that I know of before posting here.
I got a reply from PINE64 team and they've advised me to test the camera under Android OS on the Pinebook Pro. Specifically this : https://wiki.pine64.org/index.php/Pinebo....1_microSD

Noted, both support and product team already look into this issue. All the Pinebook Pro 100% go thru camera functional checking during production line and product team surprise on this issue.
Hi. I got my pinebook pro in June. My webcam was working fine, but a few days ago, I got the same issue related here. I have tried the pine key +F12, flashed a new card with a clean Manjaro, and nothing. I couldn't make it work.
I received and email from my "support" ticket today. It said:
As we found that the webcam issue is due to the privacy switch did not switch on, could you please double check your Pinebook Pro with Android OS and the privacy switches ?
Your understanding and patience is greatly appreciated.
Has anybody else gotten this or tried Android to get the camera to work? I have definitely tried the privacy switches in both Manjaro and Debian with not luck.

Yeah, I got the exact same message. Looks like Pine support tickets are turning into another mailing list.
The thing is, for me that's the second time they're asking me to check if the webcam works in the android image. It didn't work 36 days ago, and since they haven't done anything to fix the problem there's no reason for it to SUDDENLY start working now.
