Pinebook Pro & PinePhone shipping progress (2020)
They probably want to know the real price. Show them the PayPal stuff.
What is going on. I sent an email to sales@pine asking for shipping information, tracking, anything on phone since I never got an email (that should have simply been sent out to customers) from a pre-order from like April 2nd.

And the response I get is that they are going to cancel my otrder. Total ridiculous. Can someone at pine who is a moron, please check their sales email.

This is really poor. way to go.

There wouldn't have been any problem is pine just responsibly followed up with an email to people who spend their time and money attempting to be enthusiastic and support their products.
Excuse typo, apparently I am annoyed. "And the response I get is that they are going to cancel my order. Total ridiculous. Can someone at pine who is NOT a moron, please check their sales email."

Hang in there.  What you are doing is awesome.  I've bricked phones by flashing them.  I've bricked phones using a freezer app to try to shut of innocuous sounding apps like "LG Backup" which cannot be disabled through normal Android apps.  I know what a JTAG port is and how to use them.  The bricked phones I have do not have JTAG ports.  You have to scrape the epoxy off of traces and somehow trusting a 3rd party as to which trace to attach, jack your programmer in.  Again, in some cases, I cannot get the factory rom from the manufacturer.  Again, trust a 3rd party download.  Arghh.  A collection of our phones are designed to go into the landfill.  Recycling, right.  Have you seen the entire recyc chain?  It's still putting toxic crap somewhere.
So what you / Pine64 is doing is AWESOME.  Oh yeah, I want it now...but I can wait.  Barely Wink .

(I cant remember but I'm going to go review.  I think the modem is replaceable in this phone.  If it is, the lifespan of the phone goes way up.  Who cares if it isnt.  When the modem is obsolete (6G beamed straight into my head)...I have complete control over the phone.  Lets slap it in the dash of my RV and turn it into a trip computer, stick it on my bedside for a fancy alarm clock, run my CNC machine with it, make it my homebrew computer, ...  Cause with this phone, you can.)

Now dont take this as a complaint or as bad news. Just take it as a data point.  I'd be really glad to hear from people in America that ordered as to what date, what general location, and if you got a email/SMS or have your phone yet.

For me:
I ordered my community edition on 4/25 to be shipped DHL and got a paypal notice that Syabas Technology in HK had received it also on the 25th.  I am in the Seattle area and so far have not received an email or SMS.

I continue to wait patiently (not bragging, just reminding how cool this device is and how cool we'll make it be...cause we can.)

THANKS!
Bill

I'm not in the US (Norway here) but I ordered mine in may and got the paypal notice, but no SMS/e-mail from DHL yet. The coronavirus + HK protests are probably just making things a bit more slow an unpredictable - also with DHL.

And I totally agree with you, I think Luke and everyone at Pine64 are doing an amazing job!
The phone really isn't expensive, and these are not normal circumstances. Still, they are providing us with frequent updates about shipping (I doubt it's easy to get that info from huge companies like DHL and Asendia), pictures from the factory and other useful updates.

First time I hear of this. Which customs (country)? did you reach out to them to ask what it is they actually want?
Thank you for answering.
Spain.
I sent a support request to DHL but they didn't answer yet.
My fears are the phone will just be returned to sender given the amount of work needed to obtain the missing documents is too much in the current world situation.
We had a couple of such cases in my company. No one bothered to contact us to ask for further information. They just returned the parcels.

This happens a lot in the uk with products over like $40 from china, call the customs people they probably dont even need documents but are working out how much they need to charge you. Not sure about spain but over here they send you a letter in the post about a week later and ask you to pay 20% + a handling fee

Yeah. I am just hoping for some info as well.

As far as I can interpret, DHL PinePhone orders (or at least, notifications) should have already been sent out on either 6/5 or 6/6, according to the 6/4 update?

I still have received nothing as far as updates go, and people are reporting having already received their units.

If this is normal, then that's totally fine by me. Just simply hoping to get that affirmation (or ping the appropriate parties if we slipped through the cracks).

Good luck, linuxd! Hope your case gets sorted.

  • Shipping: $15.00 via PinePhone Shipping

Same question here!

I have an order receipt from April 3 via PinePhone Shipping for a delivery to France.
Do I need to do anything (like DHL upgrade)?
Any idea if there will be an official post saying something like, "All DHL pre-orders placed by the May 22 deadline have been dispatched. Please contact support if you have not received your notification"?

Yes. I had to telephone DHL They already knew how much the pinephone had cost. They just wanted to know if it was for commercial use and that I agreed on their making the customs clearance.

After two hours the phone exited the customs office. I had to pay 48€ (35€ customs tax).

Apparently these guys from DHL customs service in Madrid work on a pull basis, not on a push basis as the parcel tracking system suggests...
Hi, I upgraded to DHL today. Since you wait for at least 1000 people to send it, can we know how many we are today? 2? 5? 100? 200? How many? So as to estimate an approximate timing. Thanks so much
