 gvim performance in Debian

Has anyone had any luck improving the performance of gvim on PBP? I'm finding it to be exceptionally slow when I make my window fullscreen, as compared to running vim in a Terminal and making it fullscreen. Anyone have any simple fixes I can try? (I'm really attached to gvim's desert theme..)

Replying to my own thread, in case anyone else experiences this.. it looks like the problem I was having is related to gtk3:
https://github.com/vim/vim/issues/1199 gtk2 apparently doesn't have this problem and performs a lot better. So if you're seeing major perf issues with gvim (several seconds to refresh the screen while scrolling when maximized) then you should switch from using the vim-gtk3 package to vim-gtk. It's much faster. |
