@tllim , @xalius , @ayufan and @anarsoul , Just got around to updating the trackpad firmware. The process was simple and did not produce errors. I am writing this with the update applied with the trackpad on, and am not using an external mouse. I am pleased to report that the palm detection is fixed, it no longer blocks characters from being typed. I still have to keep my meaty thumbs from interacting with the pad though, otherwise I cause inadvertent cursor movement and text selection. It is quite pleasant typing now, even with the trackpad on. Thanks for this!

How could I check version of the firmware? I've got PBP Dec 2019 ISO and the touchpad works to me a little weird.

Those of you who got their PBPs in late 2019 and early 2020, please do the following to determine which firmware you have: 1) open a terminal window 2) place on finger on trackpad 3) type any letter Report if the letter you typed showed up. If it did, good, its the newest firmware.

Looks like the factory messed up then ... I need a few more confirmations - so others with new PBPs please test this too.
