Luckily seconds after asking the Manjaro team made their version available and I'm updated now. Open question: does anyone know if the necesity to type slowly is a hardware or firmware isue? As you can se here, every word using repeating leters is a problem, even when I intentionally slow my typing. (Unless I go hunt-and-peck sped. It's a bit beter then, but stil not great.)

A bit delayed trying this fix out today, didn't get to give it a go over lunch as expected. Now that I am home though, I just finished up the process as described above and man oh man is it a night and day difference. I had zero issues performing the flash via SSH. I am going to put the track-pad through its paces tonight and try to do the rest of my work for the evening on the PBP! Thanks again @Luke, @ayufan , and the rest of the team for facilitating this fix and getting word out to the rest of us who needed saved from our impatient selves. Cheers!

Worked like a charm for me. Big thank you to everyone involved! It types proper now. Fairly certain I could wage a decent flame war with it now. I'm off to find out.

I am not having that issue on the default Debian in Leafpad or LibreOffice Writer....maybe Manjaro preview issue?
Manjaro and Chromium. Had the problem while posting to the manjaro forum booted from it, and again booted from chromium, posting here.

How can I check the firmware version? What's the current version and what was the previous one?
