Free software people want a device to run entirely on free
software. Free software is software you may use, share, modify and redistribute. About phones no modem is a free software modem. Next best option is a phone where everything else runs on free software. The wifi card and gps device on the pinephone requires non free software? I assume the Mali 400 MP2 gpu will not run optimally if no non free software is installed? I have heard, people are working on improving the free software support of the mentioned gpu. And better support should be present in the newest version of libre linux kernel. How is the wifi card located on the phone? Can it be changed with another wifi card in a future version of the pinephone? Same question about the gps? Would it be possible to have an attachment having another wifi card and gps? Or attachments cannot be usb devices?

Can't wait for this frickin' phone!
I know I will probably be checking in the forums from time to time but is there an email alert setup for those of us wanting to know when it is possible to buy a more refined, consumer version? I would pre-order now but the current pre-orders are only for the dev version, no? Take my money already!

Here is a great video showing assembly of a pinephone prototype and booting of postmarketos:

"- is there already a tool for overclocking it desperately?"

HOPEFULLY : Tentatively Brave Heart "Pre-Orders" "May" open November 15 - 17 2019.... NOT 100% certain but that is the "Tentative" time being aimed at. --(Rumor has it that there was a delay in getting out the Developers edition, causing the Brave Heart to be moved back Slightly) (Many of us were planning on pre-orders opening November 5, 2019 - So I figured I would share this) BC

As a phone it just sucks. No battery life, hot to touch, camera sub-par, slow, etc., waste of money for me. Tried all of the latest software. To me it's over hyped junk . |
