Migrate Linux from microSD to onboard eMMC
#1
Guys, I do not have usb adapter for eMMC used on ROCK64. Is there any plugin or software to install on linux, like migrate OS to SSD for Windows, so I can use it to format/copy onboard eMMC and migrate linux to it from microSD?

thanks

If your SD and eMMC are the same size, then most flashing software makes it possible to rip an existing image (be it Disks GUI on Linux or win32imager on Win10). So, rip your SD to your HDD, then flash that to your eMMC. Simple.
You can find me on IRC, Discord and Twitter

Hello, I'm a bit of a Noob!
So, I've got my rock64 4G running github.com_bionic-lxde-rock64-0.7.9-1067-arm64.img from my 16Gb SD card, how can I install that image (from the SD card or any other method without an emmc adapter) to my 64Gb emmc?

I've installed disks on my sd, but (with and without jumper installed on rock) it doesn't seem to mount or detect my emmc. I know emmc works because with the 2 seconds jumper method I got xenail mate on it but bionic just boots, even if announced as an emmc installable distro.

Thanks!

Hi,

I thought about this.  Your best bet is to purchase an eMMC to USB adapter.  You can then easily flash images to it on demand.  You can buy them from the Pine store or even on Amazon:

I bought the Amazon one because it was cheaper when factoring in shipping.

While booting Linux a message was displayed how to install the OS to emmc.  It was easy to do.

Seems interesting, but how do you use it ? Run as is,it does not show anything. There should be parameters, but which ones ? I tried with some without result.

Would be simple if the size was the same, but unfortunately a 32G eMMC is really 31.03, and a 32G microSD is 31.93. And for this reason the transfer fails, even after I have reduced the last partition of the microSD card.

There are no parameters, you need to copy script to SDcard to boot from the sdcard and run ./setup.sh
