Power Supply ordering question
#1
Hi,

When the next batch of RockPro64's comes in I'll be ordering, but just had a quick question on ordering the ROCKPro64 12V 5A EU Power Supply, for people in the UK will this come with the a UK power plug lead or will I have to source this separatly ?

Current we only supply US or EU plug. For UK, you will need to change to UK plug yourself.

Its a Two Pin "Very Large" wall wart, rather than a laptop 'brick' style kettle lead, So you will need a 2 pin EU to 3 Pin UK converter sadly.

I have one of those, but this must present an issue when using the board for UK commercial projects.

Ouch. that won't go down well with some powerpoint socket types... Australia and the US spring to mind when using only two pins... it's going to loose that fight with gravity eventually!

Can I use a 5V power supply if I use emmc and USB HDD only (no sata) ?

Apologies for resuscitating an old thread ...

What is the allowable input voltage range for the ROCKPro64 through the barrel connector?

Somewhere I thought I saw a range up to 17V or more? With 12V recommended. But cant find it. I do have a 19V supply lying around but not the courage to try it without checking.

Didnt order a Pine PSU - had been using an ancient 12V 1.25A wart I had which went to meet its maker when I put a DVD on the USB3 Cool Managed to find another wart rated 12V 700mA which is doing OK but am now measuring power/volts etc and it is pretty much at spec with 100% CPU load so no bandwidth for any GPU or power sucking stuff plugged in elsewhere.

PS - found my answer - Pg 11 of schematic says 4.5V < VIN < 18V
  • ROCKPro64 v2.1 2GB, 16Gb eMMC for rootfs, SX8200Pro 512GB NVMe for /home, HDMI video & sound, Bluetooth keyboard & mouse. Arch (6.2 kernel, Openbox desktop) for general purpose daily PC.
  • PinePhone Pro Explorer Edition, daily driver, rk2aw & U-boot on SPI, Arch/SXMO & Arch/phosh on eMMC
  • PinePhone BraveHeart now v1.2b 3/32Gb, Tow-boot with Arch/SXMO on eMMC

Please only plug in 12V power supply to ROCKPro16 board especially when you have PCIe board and 3.5" HDD installed. The ROCKPro64 main board may able to handle higher than 12V supply but other plug in card or device that on 12V rail may not.
