Well, that's interesting you should mention that, actually.

... because the 7" LCD display only works with Android, and with Android the fan is not necessary;  just a heatsink is all you need there.  The reason is that Android cuts back on the cores running, and also slows down the clock... and it runs very cool.  Even sealed up in my cb&dt playbox the GPU is always in the low 40(s) C
Mark

Mine has been running really hot when I'm using the LCD and android. I haven't invested in heat sinks yet though. Do you have any recommendations?

Any of the copper or aluminum heatsink sets made for the raspberry pi will work for the pine boards as well.

Any word on the LCD enclosure yet?  I'd love to order one even if it looks half as nice as their other cases!

USPS attempted to deliver on Saturday when C4 was closed. I am hoping it gets redelivered today. I will post updates along the way as I did before.

Matt

Go Dustin Go! Looking forward to a better solution than the playbox! Everything I've been seeing about playbox makes it sound terrible... Sad

I wouldn't say 'terrible' but, its nothing to write home about.

OK - my C4 case got delivered to work on Friday (I didn't go in to the office that day) so I've just assembled it and got Pine64+ 2GB running hooked up to a Motorola Lapdock on my desk at work.

No holes for power-switches - but I ran one outside via wire through the SD card slot connect to EXP 5/6...  So far so good with this case...

Mmmm - how do I upload pictures to this forum?  Or do I have to host them somewhere else myself?

WTF?  Seriously you guys (Pine forum people) expect me to host images myself?

Never mind - I'm not inclined to go off and find a photo hosting provider - yeah I know there's plenty out there, I think I've still got a photobucket (or whatever it calls itself these days) account and deviant art, maybe even flickr and picasa...    but I just can't be arsed...

I just can't believe in this day and age a forum doesn't have a feature to upload inline images to forum posts!  (I know plenty of other forums that do!)

---  so without pictures ---

I've gone back to the Debian XFCE Longsleep build...  So one Pine running a "desktop", will keep my other pine on ethernet and headless running Armbian "vanilla"...  Anyway - seems to run alright - it's actually quite "snappy" - few little niggly things/annoyances.

Annoyances :
a) Can't get Synergy to install on it, and really can't be bothered to get to the bottom of why - or setup a build environment to build it from source.

b) Can't get it to run 1366x768 on the lapdock [defaults to 1280x720].  Does anyone know if there's (yeah I guess this is off topic) a "mode" for 1366x768 like "720p_60"?  1366x768 is a fairly "common" mode, and my CHIP board and my BananaPI running Armbian "know" about it on the Lapdock (i.e. they just come up at that resolution - "plug and play").

c) Batteries!  Still cannot get Pine to run off a battery!  I've tried wiring in a 10 K resistor to the middle pin.  I've hooked up a 3 pole LiPo battery to Pine.  If I try to power up Pine from battery, the LED will come on, stay on / flash, for a number of seconds (between 30-90 - I didn't have stopwatch) then shutoff...  Running on the Lapdock, the Lapdock provides power to the Pine - except if you close the lid!  The closest I've come to any sort of "success" - is being able to close the Lapdock lid while Pine's got a battery connected, then open it again...

The site hosts pics.

... crop them and use a photo editor to make them smaller in KBs. Then use the edit /full.  (not edit quick)

At the bottom you will find a button called "choose file".  Select the pic you want from your drive... then click add attachment.  Then, at the way bottom right click the botton to post the pic in-line.  Then go up into the body and add your text.  All of the pics that I have posted have been posted in this way.

Please don't try to post MByte pics... I think the max is 600Kb.  I try to keep mine at about 60-70Kb.
