The worst antifeature of Play Integrity is actually not the client-side API (which is relatively easy to crack), but the remote attestation, which means that banking servers can remotely cryptographically verify that your device fulfills the bank's "integrity" requirements.

alphabet inc has introduced one hurdle more. basically pixel's hardware code is not available openly. this makes development of custom and modified android more difficult.

article says: google starts to require developer signing for android apps, even in sideloading. this is for google certified devices. it is done in name of security and preventing scams, this also gives more central control to google. this is one more step to google's central control. building closed ecosystem like apple's. this won't affect ungoogled custom images, but how useful these are if critical apps require google play, like banking apps and similar. |
