My quartz64 has 8 gigabytes of RAM. I think I read somewhere in the wiki that early tests were done on devices with 4 gigabytes and there was no guarantee that video will work on devices with 8GB, but after a quick search I couldn't verify this info.

No, it was a brand new microSD from the store dedicated to video recording. But I'll wipe it clean later just to be sure.

The usb stick was used for some other linux/bsd installations, but I'll wipe it clean too.

There may be a problem with the launch, unlike models with 8GB of RAM. I have only a version with 4GB of RAM available, I can't debug a new system on 8 RAM versions. It may be necessary to change the settings, but without real equipment, it is not effective. And how does "normal" Armbian (latest versions with kernel 6.1) work on your model?

Please PM me your address, email address, and phone number (for shipping purpose), I will ship out 8GB version board to you.

I found in the source code and in the release tags that there were two versions with 4GB and 8GB for Quartz64 in the beginning. Try the options from the website for the 8GB version.
If this works, I'll try adding another option for the 8GB version.

I tried both the latest release from the link and the one which is a bit older, but for the 8GB ram variant and both didn't work out. Before that I've zeroed the microSD one time for the unified image (which tests for ram) and forgot to zeroed it before writing the older image for 8gb, but I think the Tianocore EDK image works fine. For example your image does recognize (from the tianocore menu) that the board has 8 gigabytes of ram and that the CPU is running at a speed close to 2ghz.

Also I tried armbian 23 from the community releases:
1. Armbian_23.02.0-trunk_Quartz64a_kinetic_edge_6.0.11.img
2. Armbian_23.02.0-trunk_Quartz64a_kinetic_edge_6.0.11_xfce_desktop.img

But the same problem occurred - the system didn't boot successfully.

I did try to randomly remove from the kernel's command line a "ro", which preceded a "rw" and some fsck.* options which resulted in that the monitor didn't go to sleep, although it didn't boot either.

Quote:Ver 20221204-EDK-EFI with support for direct launch from SD card, USB recording is not needed.
I had written a question earlier, but forgot to publish it. Where can I download this version? I couldn't find it at recent links.

Re-erasing the SD card from EDK2 is not required.
You have tried the wrong versions of Armbian. Check the versions from yandex disk (directory without extension in the name of EDK). To check, write the Armbian image to the SD card and check the launch WITHOUT EDK2.

I downloaded "Armbian_22.11.0-trunk_Quartz64a_jammy_edge_6.1.0.img.xz" and wrote it on the microSD card.
The monitor showed the Tianocore menu, then the GRUB menu and the default option was selected, again the monitor went to sleep. I had the NUM LOCK led toggled on before that, but when the monitor went to sleep, the led also shut down and couldn't be toggled anymore.

The led near the power jack is on and emitting green light. There's a led near the USB ports and near the reset button which flashes in red. I guess this is the heartbeat led mentioned in the wiki.

The board was running for about 10 minutes while I was writing this post. I'll leave it for a few more hours, but I'm not hopeful.

I'll try to find my UART adapter and try to connect to the board.

New info! I've got kernel panic Smile

After connecting to the serial console with baud speed 115200 (for your image), I've seen the beautiful information for booting options and the GRUB menu. Then I've edited the baud rate to 115200 on the kernel command line to see whatever was going on. (for some reason connecting initially with 1500000 as the wiki and your post from the armbian forum suggested didn't work).

I'm inserting the lines after I've edited the entry in the grub menu:

@bosi564 I wrote to you about checking the launch of a "clean" Armbian without EDK2. That is, you need to download and burn an image from the directory to the SD card WITHOUT specifying "EDK-EFI" in the directory name. Check the launch of the EDGE and CURRENT versions. And show the UART log when launching the EDGE and CURRENT versions.

Perhaps someone can stub me into the right direction...
I build an Armbian from @balbes150 repo.
But I only get 2Gb of ram instead of 8Gb.

I think I misconfigured something, but where?

Which model are you creating an image for ?
