New keyboard issue
#11
I took the lazy man's route while real wizards figure out the Mobian fix: I installed the OpenSuSE Phosh distribution to my eMMC drive. The keyboard works fine plus the Fn key + F1...F10 keys produce the expected special characters.

Just as a data point, I continue running the target-installed from unstable 5.17 (lazy illusionist approach I guess, less work than flashing a full system), and I do not miss anything or see any showstopper bugs (caveat: I do not use the modem at all)

I guess it is slightly more work to do now that apparently the signing key for the repository has expired (or so apt tells me)…

I tried my PinePhone Pro in the case and it worked after a fashion. However, it appears that contact with the pogo pins is intermittent at best as it does odd things and the PPP keeps losing contact with the keyboard. I assume that the PPP Mobian must be on the unstable branch and hence have an unborked kernel as it is running 5.17.

The keyboard is working again with the latest update. The fn/symbol keys don't initially work, but can be fixed with the information at: https://wiki.mobian-project.org/doku.php...ccessories

If using the alternate version of automatic settings (keyboard-external.sh) replace in line 4: kb151 with pinephone-keyboard

Is this in relation to getting the top row Fn keys working?

It's to disable the onscreen keyboard on startup (and change display scaling.) The name got changed, so unless you replace "kb151" with "pinephone-keyboard" it won't work. ...the keyboard will still work, but the onscreen keyboard will still pop up. I don't know if the first method of "automatic settings" still works.

Farther down on the accessories page is the section for the symbol and fn keys. The symbol keys (things like - _ +) on the number keys don't work unless you create/edit the file /etc/systemd/system/phosh.service.d/override.conf The symbol keys are working for me, but I don't know a quick way to test the Fn keys.
