For reference, stock Pinebook Pro barrel pin uses 5volts at 0.5amp.
So the MacBook charger should work safely - and may allow faster charging as more amps - I'm testing it now.
Stock barrel pin charger is AGONISINGLY slow to charge the device - especially when watching HD video - it went from 30% to 28% for me after an hour of watching video, meaning it wasn't getting enough amps to charge properly.
Sorry for bumping an old thread, just thought my findings may help someone.
This all has been discussed over and over. My measurements where with a kill-a-watt and there may be a slight error: Macbook Pro charger charges with 13W while barrel charger with 15.9W.
I'm not sure from where you have the info about 0.5A.
Under load, the Pinebook Pro requires more power than external power supplies can deliver and it falls back to battery.
