The BLU cell phone worked great for mobile data and hot spot connections.
Am I missing something ?

Well, the hotspot feature certainly needs some love, for now it should be considered "unsupported, you're lucky if it works at all"
Regarding mobile data however I didn't see any issue with it for the past few weeks, as long as you disable PIN code verification. Maybe try turning mobile data off and on again in Settings ?

Are there there any tricks I need to do? In the chat app, I hit the new message button and it doesn't give me the ability to enter a number or select a contact.

Don't you have a search field in the "Start chat" window ? If so, enter the phone number here (including the international prefix, like +1 for the US).

I think there may be a new bug with the latest image, I used to be able to add a Nextcloud account and add the remote Calendars from it. But when I try to add the remote Calendars they are not there, when I go to the offline accounts the Nextcloud one I set up has been forgotten? Was able to connect a Bluetooth mouse to the Pinephone which was fun, keep up the great work!

I'll check with a clean build, no problem here with nextcloud, but I haven't done a clean install in a while.
