@richfm, Thanks for the pictures. The antenna connector appears to be seated correctly. If you had gently pushed down on it, and it did not move, then it should be well seated.
Next, try either the default debian update, 1.5 or another OS to see if WiFi changes. Some of them disable WiFI power saving, having WiFI run at full power all the time.
It's early days, so some of us don't have all the answers. Like checking WiFi power savings. When I looked at WiFi power saving 2 weeks ago, I could not figure out where the WiFi parameters were changed. It will be figured out and documented.
