Unfortunately, the Rock64 misses the PCIE Slot which I think is a
great feature and I want to have on my new SBC.

Do you think the PineH64 is as fast as the Rock64 or maybe faster or should I better wait for the RockPro64?
I ask because H64 is an Allwinner and not a Rockchip.

ROCK64 has fast USB 3.0 to SATA performance and should be a good board for your application as ayufan suggested.

However, PINE H64 board also is a good candidate but still takes some time for the software getting mature for user space usage.
