The good news is that the stock debian build is actually pretty darn solid - in some respects, if you intend to run a desktop, this is probably the best desktop build on Rock64's launch (I found it to have the least desktop-related issues).
There is one major issue I found with the image -- updating via terminal breaks the installation. This will obviously get fixed, but its something you may wish to keep in mind when trying out this image at launch
